This is an amazing band. Vai has made this his own and Carey is so laid back on the groove. Adrian and Tony haven't lost a thing. We are so totally blessed to be alive right now.
It's one of those rarest of things; completely original art that just seems to have come from nowhere. Those three albums represent an entirely self-contained genre.
@@mightymartianca well…it started with Brian Eno and Fripps recording No Pussyfooting…1973……a new language in music….then Eno’s Another Green World where they both added to that language…then The League of Gentlemen….Fripp and his Keyboardist Barry Andrew’s from XTC…they started the weaving of guitar and keyboards that later in Crimson was 2 guitars…in fact..I saw The League of Gentleman at the Cleveland Agora….and the opening act was a band called GaGa…and their guitarist singer was Adrian Belew…this was 1980….Discipline was 1981…so really…it was a pretty long journey….it never comes out of nowhere…there is a lot of hard work put into it over years to give you that impression.
The King Crimson rabbit hole is wide, broad and deep, deeply beautiful and deeply disturbing. Enter at your own risk but enter you must. Somewhere buried in their discography your favorite music waits for you
I had never heard of Primus before I saw them open for Rush in the 80's. I told my friend they sounded like a cross of King Crimson and Wall of Voodoo.
Was sitting second row at this show. Unbelievable. Steve Vai and Danny Carey added so much and my god, Adrian Belew’s voice hasn’t changed a bit in 40 years!
Vai played the Fripp solo note for note and it was as good as the original recording. That stuff after Belew’s solo was incredible! If this is what they do in a few weeks of rehearsal and come out the gate with, what a tour it’s going to be.
"Elephant Talk" and "Indiscipline" are two songs that I thought I'd burned out on, but the energy Vai and Carey bring is awesome..and Belew and Levin clearly are splashing around in the Fountain of Youth having a blast (despite probably some stress in the set at trying to remember all the parts and lyrics). Killer band-I can't imagine how amazing it will be once they've eased into a groove after a few shows.
I've seen Crimson several times, I love the music and was dying to see this tour, then checked the ticket prices. I'll see ya when you tour heaven boys, this old man isn't wealthy.
I wanna go cause it's probably the final time these dudes will be alive. It's like 110 usd where I'm at on Wednesday for the worst seats. I really wanna go but I spent 100+ bucks today that I shouldn't have lol
I was at this show - first one, a little rough around the edges at first, but they found their groove! I appreciated how Vai *both* played some stuff as close to Fripp's style as possible, and some he Vai-ified, even within the same solo. This particular track, the first solo (a Fripper) he played exactly like Fripp. In fact, Vai sounded more like Fripp than Belew sounded like Belew in his solo!! And then a new Vai solo added. Pretty darned cool!
This is freaking awesome! Crimson especially 80s are my hero, and I love tool as well. Vai is also a memorable person for me. When I was in elementary school, my father would play “I would love to”. It was like the door to another world. Now I play the bass (not guitar…), but it is absolutely their influence!!! Big thanks from jp 🇯🇵
Yeah!!! Can't wait for Sept. 26th, Fort Lauderdale! Saw the eighties' KC twice on The Pier on the west side of Manhattan. These clips are great. Thanks for whetting my appetite.
Seeing them in October and Never been more excited to see a show in Decades. Saw this tour in '83 and Vai and Danny seemed to Have NAILED Fripp and Bruford's parts. PS. Awesome Vid and sound.
Saw the original lineup live on The Pier in NYC, 1984. This is great that Adrian and Tony are doing this and this lineup has been put together. I hope everything goes well on the tour.
for once, for *once*, I am glad someone took their iphone to a gig, & also held it the right way up. hope these guys come to the UK soon. KC without fripp is so relaxing!
Cool! Very good audio and video quality here dude! Much appreciated! Seeing them in late November in VanCity. Can't wait! Thanks for this excellent video!
Watching this and Band Geeks ALMOST get Close to the Edge perfectly right some how, seems to me that Bruford is inimitable. It's a blessing and a curse having Bruford. I'm not the biggest Genesis fan but the one thing I like the most has Bruford on it I think he played in Gong briefly, i should try to find a recording and ruin that for myself too😂 And I would never say Danny Carey isn't a legend. But his drums sound like his drums Especially on Indiscipline, Bruford ruined that song by having the most perfect snare drum (for that song, not saying put Bruford's snare in anything). It's like 91.6% of what makes the song good. I should say though that I am thinking specifically of the double trio version from 95 or 96, maybe the 80s recording is subdued Bruford but who wants to subdue Bruford Sorry, I'm sick in bed writing internet comments that don't go anywhere or start anywhere.
Couldn't force myself to buy one back in the late 90ies when they were everywhere, because of the shape, went for the Jem instead 😂😂😂 and then a few others. Now I dont have a place for another one or the Missus would kick me out
This is awesome. What a band. Plus two of Zappa’s best guitar players!
exactly 👍
Tony and Danny are no slouches either!
Seeing Steve Vai play King Crimson is so surreal.
It fits so well though!!
Such a versatile musician
And give the tour a few weeks...
Vai is a genius, the perfect part that Crimson needs.
@@PeterSokol-bl5vz ... said nobody at all, ever...
I love seeing Danny Carey play something outside of Tool.
Plays Bruford as well as Bruford 🎯
@@icemike874 And that's saying something!
It'd be cool to see more collabs from him!
Like Portnoy's output away from DT, for a few years there!
I don't really care for Tool much, but I really enjoy his drumming...so I agree.
He play in Volto! album Incitare. th-cam.com/play/OLAK5uy_mEgZCb1gzjicvHTQBp4ep4VcDezasPqxE.html&si=mDUaQPy3XhTKygw3

Probably the best ever.
⭐️
Absolutely
I'm 67. I want to be like Tony Levin when I grow up. He is 78! Looking lean and mean behind the Stick!
He defies the laws of aging physics!
It’s 40 years old…and they are still more modern and fresh than anything out there today.
THIS THIS THIS

There's a lot of fresh music out there if you look for it
@@floydhopkins7901 not anything like this…..and what is fresh today is just crap.
A MOTHERFUCKING TRIUMPH
This is so good. Steve should have been sitting in a chair, though. That would have been pretty funny.
for sure. didn't he just get shoulder surgery as well it would have been totes apropes
Wow I didn't really explore this band and didn't realize what a huge influence they must have had on Primus.
Good point.
they did les claypool is a huge tony levin fan and this intro riff from elephant talk was basically the predecessor to jerry was a racecar driver

Even back in the 90s Les said King Crimson and The Police's Zenyatta Mendatta album were big influences.

Belew's singing always makes me laugh of joy. Great all stars team!
so that's what steve was talking about in the rick beato interview of how he'd do some of fripp's parts with his own interpretation. :) JFC well done
Vai in a KC band playing Fripp's parts, AND doing it Fantastically, is Pure AWESOME!!!!!!!
And with those little noodlings on the Chapman Stick, kids, Mr. Levin opened a new Crimson chapter.
Incredible. I haven’t been this excited for a show in years. 3 weeks and counting!
seeing this on October 23rd.
Went to the San Jose show and was blown away
I'm going Nov 25 at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver (home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra). It is a great venue for an incredible show!!
Danny purchased Bill's old Dragon Drums. Very cool to see them in use again!
This is sooo good, plus, I needed this. Europe please XXX
Yesssssss 🔥 Vai nailed that!!! Across the board excellence. Can’t wait for the show in October!
Napa tonight baby!😊

I'm still mind-boggled Fripp's suggestion was "Beat" instead of "Indiscipline".
I suppose they both have a certain irony, but Indiscipline is definitely a great name for a rock band, as Dave Barry would say
An all star version of an all star supergroup. 50% Zappa influence as well which is always a plus
The best thing to happen in music for years. Thanks for uploading
Thank you Danny Carey and Steve Vai for lending a helping hand.
Two of A Perfect Match.
Steve Vai looking like SRV and playing Robert Fripp guitar parts....Love It!
There must be a live album! This is golden!
I was at this show - first one, a little rough around the edges at first, but they found their groove! What these men do to and get out of their instruments is beyond amazing. ♥️
They should become a permanent band and write new things together. They play so naturally together one would think they always had been.
Absolutely amazing. We are so fortunate! Steve, holy fuck
Great performance! Danny's killing it. 🔥02:41 Steve having a good time 😂
Made the back of my hair stand up!!!
Have tickets for Toronto - I may not sleep until then! BrianMillerConcerts....may the good Lord take a liking to you for posting this!!!!

Adrian’s signature red pants! I remember them from the early 80’s. (Presumably these are new!)
Yeah!!! Can't wait for Sept. 26th, Fort Lauderdale! Saw the eighties' KC twice on The Pier on the west side of Manhattan. These clips are great. Thanks for whetting my appetite.
I'll be at that show. Coming up from Miami. I've been looking forward to this for months.
There was a moment that stands out to me around the 3:57 mark during Steve Vai's solo. It had this Primus Vibe. I'm loving this project!
I couldn't afford the live show. So I've been waiting for the videos to start appearing. Thanks!
same here, sold out quick and ticket prices are ridiculous.
Seeing them in October and Never been more excited to see a show in Decades. Saw this tour in '83 and Vai and Danny seemed to Have NAILED Fripp and Bruford's parts.

This is phenomenal, I'm unreasonably hyped for the show! Really happy to see Vai making this his own
Great band. Long may the mighty Crim live.
...my favorite Steve Vai since FLEX-ABLE!
Thanks for taking the time to upload this! 🤘

I love that danny got that Gig.. this must be a dream come true for him! ❤
That groove was pure melt
So awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thank god real music still exists with real players
Fantastic, I love it. Is it me, or do I hear the place where Primus sourced their virtuoso eccentric sound from?
Steve Vai looks like he's having a blast!! Absolutely ssssssssmokin'!!!!
for once, for *once*, I am glad someone took their iphone to a gig, & also held it the right way up. hope these guys come to the UK soon. KC without fripp is so relaxing!

The whole venue was bonkers happy by this point. What a special night.
Thanks a lot for this.. I'll be seeing this show in 2 weeks from today and I am so excited!
Awesome of you to post this, and the audio and camerawork is great. Can’t wait for Boston next month!
Thank you! this is lovely! can hardly wait for our town!!
Impressive. 😮
One of my favorite KC track 👏
I hadn’t realize how much King Crimson music needed Vai.
Good god this is so great. Thanks for posting! Holy cow the quality is 👌🏻
The pro shot versions of these gigs are going to be Godly.
They absolutely nailed it. Wow
May the universe bless you for posting this. Thank you so much
VAI, the man, the legend, nobody could pull this off so perfect, hell man he is better than ever
Bummed to miss this. Extraordinary.
They are having fun, no doubt about it!
I can hardly wait!!!! Going to the Hampton Beach, NH show!
Tony Levin is almost 80. I just want to be standing upright and still know who I am at that point, if I even get that far. Absolutely incredible.
Looking forward to the show in PA! I won my Tix! 😁
Wow, that was super. Vai and Carey totally nailed it in their own way.
WOW that is exciting!! thanks so much for posting, it brings me back
destined to take the place of the mudshark in your mythology...
Wanted to see this show so badly, but couldn't make it happen. Bummer 😢
damnit i couldn't resist. smiled the whole way through. thanks.
I can only hope for some sorta official live video of the show in it's entirety but thanks to all yall who did catch some it and posted it.
sounds great!
Holy Shite. Thank You.
Just amazing!
Covered Indiscipline in the early 80's in a trio. No one had any idea what we were doing but it invariably won the audiences over!
Impressive!!!!!
That brought a smile to my face that nearly split it in half.
Belew still rocking 'The Name Of This Band Is" baggy red trousers... this is true genius
Simply Awesome! 👍👍🤘🤘👌👏
This was such a great idea! Kudos!
This is a gift from the rock gods
Steve became a sidekick again... Amazing!
Finally back to a normal tempo! The Crimson ProjeKct versions were sluggish.

Adrian is so twisted. I love it.
They sound great. Vai as a sideman..hasn't done that in years but he hasn't forgotten.
Can't wait for NYC.........
2:46 finally I see the lunaticish head move I always do at that part of the melody - love it!
PT Music Masters, please, come to Europe!!! Especially, come to Poland! You are outstanding!
Oh yeah!!!!!
Just a thought....
Adrian Belew, Steven Vai, and Robert Fripp together in King Crimson.....
OMG, I THINK I'VE GOT A HARD ON!!!
What an absolute pleasure to see this!
Great job on lead Steve
Glad to see Belew still using a Parker guitar. They are great axes 🤘🏾
Couldn't force myself to buy one back in the late 90ies when they were everywhere, because of the shape, went for the Jem instead 😂😂😂 and then a few others. Now I dont have a place for another one or the Missus would kick me out
Great. they actually pulled it off.
Thanks for Upload
Vai taking a back seat…..love it.
