A market watch for FaB is really useful for someone like me. As a casual player considering getting into the game, I’m finding that some of these cards are quite expensive. It might be a bit of a silly question, but how many copies of each card are needed for a full playset? I understand the desire to keep rare or exclusive cards valuable, but I’m not thrilled about the idea of needing to spend $100 or more on a single card just to build a competitive deck for local events. Apologies for the rant-maybe I just don’t fully grasp the value of some of these cards yet.

For equipment you only need one copy, and that will usually be where most of the cost of the whole deck lies. For regular cards a playset is 3 but there are cards with the keyword "legendary" that you can only use 1 of in your decks. Its a steep buy in but it does get a lot better once you have some of these staples, being able to switch to a different hero without having to buy a ton of stuff again especially if you stay in the same class, compared to other tcg's most of these prices are good except for command and conquer and codex... I don't blame you for not wanting to buy into those its crazy. You can however avoid codex by not playing ranger/assissin and borrow CnC from a local or just replace it. Your deck can still be very good without it and some of the best lists don't even run it.

Sorry, someone did beat me to the response, but like what they said,
      Equipment cards = 1 copy
      Legendary cards = 1 copy
      Everything else = 3 copies
The problem is of course that some cards are so expensive they push many new players away from the game. I can't blame them, I only play locally, so there is no point in me investing heavily into the game. I don't own a single card over $40 (unless it goes up in value after buying it like my Grasp of the Arknight) and anything over that I will either Proxy for friendly games or I will buy really nice looking proxies off of places like Etsy (SigilliteGames on Etsy has awesome stuff and spending $10 on my Equipment beats $100+)
Putting things into Perspective from sites like Fabrec.gg these are the generic staples that most decks run in some form or another:
      Balance of Justice = $120
      Fyendal's Spring Tunic = $100
      Crown of Providence = $60
Command and Conquer = $90, but a playset is $270
Art of War = $35, but a playset is $105
      Enlightened Strikes = $30, but a playset is $90
      Warmonger's Diplomacy = $65, but a playset is $195
The Weakest Link = $45, but a playset is $135
This does not take into consideration class specific cards that are expensive like Codex of Frailty ($225 for a playset), Valiant Dynamo's ($85), Spellbound Creepers ($125), Phantasmal Footsteps ($100), and so on.
I think this is a solid game, so much so that I decided to make a second TH-cam channel on it. However, I will never defend the prices of certain cards in this game. It's also hard for me to recommend this game to new players knowing that once they have fun with their Starter deck, the step moving forward is to drop so much money if they want to get competitive. Because there are games just as good as FaB out right now and so much cheaper.

Thank you both for the information on playsets and their potential costs. I believe FaB is a fantastic game, and I'm eager to start playing. If I decide to "commit more seriously", I’ll likely use high-quality proxies for certain cards as Vv mentioned.

Alluvian Constellas is kind of a wizard SB staple. you put it in your SB for any wizard mirror.and often when playing into runeblade.
with two new runblades and wizards coming out. i feel its a good pickup

I think Runic Reclamation is underappreciated given its potential and maybe worth watching as we move into the new set.
