This was my very first Broadway show at the age of 14. What an introduction! I remember getting everyone's autograph afterwards. I learned recently that both Laurence Guittard and Harry Groener are also accomplished Shakespearean actors. Harry is still going!
A soprano Christine Ebersole played Ado Annie as did Barbara Cook in 1953 when Florence Henderson was Laurie here played by Christine Andreas. Harry Groener is Will and Larry Guittard is Curly
It's almost certain that you will not hear singers of this caliber on Broadway today, even if they are out there. It's considered 'old-fashioned' even for Rodgers and Hammerstein. People are ignorant!
@@kennethwayne6857 I agree the recent Oklahoma revival was very bad with wrong singers . Oklahoma needs lyric singers not belters and country singers. Rodgers and Hammerstein would have hated the revival. I dont know what Shirley Jones thought when she presented the Oklahoma revival in the Tony Awards ceremony. I dont think that she liked it but she didnt say anything Harry Groener and Christine Ebersole as Will and Annie and Larry Guitard and Christine Andreas as Curly and Laurie this was a cast of great singers
@@dianaaljadeff2983 Good to see some people of taste are still out there! Don't mean to go off on a rant but I dearly love the R&H shows and when you care deeply, you become opinionated. At least we'll always have the original cast albums and films.
I saw this production twice when in came through OKC. Great memories.

This is SUPERB!! Thank You.
Beautiful work all around.
I love Christine Andreas.
I took that album out of the library and wore it out! Perfect cast!

How does a talented and handsome man like Laurence Guittard only have 7 acting credits???!!!
EDIT: I guess he is primarily a stage actor.
Beautiful. Love the film
Excellent singers
Understatement.

@@kennethwayne6857 Cheers mate, we are a dying breed to appreciate this excellence.
