improvised piece played with my virtual instruments
dedicated to a man, an Indian labourer exploited and killed
(as there are so many of them of many nationalities,
both here in Italy and in the world)
whose name was Satnam Singh
and who worked in the fields picking tomatoes,
underpaid, exploited, harassed, humiliated,
That we can go to any supermarket
And buy us boxes of tomatoes
we live in an INHUMANE world
that exploits a lot of human beings
to consequently generate the well-being of a few
there is no need hypocritically,
only to be outraged when these things happen
And go on as if nothing had happened to make our lives,
You have to move your ass and open your eyes to change things
on the rights of those who work, on the duties of those who give work,
on the utter lack of respect for human lives,
for the benefit of the only objective which is profit,
'Cause when you have to make ends meet,
You only think about cutting labor costs
and the work of the labourers, often in the black market,
it is done by the most blackmailable and vulnerable people,
who speak a few words of our language,
and who have an extreme need to work,
accepting even inhumane conditions, without a contract,
in inhumane and exploitative conditions.
As soon as I heard of his death,
I was ashamed to live in a country that
Exploits people who need to work
just because he needs to work,
to be able to provide a living for himself and his family,
Every Italian should apologize to his family
I sincerely hope
(and I thought this while I was improvising this music with my eyes closed)
that Satnam, wherever he is now,
can protect his family from human malice
