My dad, Johnson Nwogwugwu was a great fan. I remember watching my dad glued to our television anytime Miriam is singing. Now, I know why my dad liked Miriam so much at the time. She is incredible and amazing.
A humble request, if anyone knows the lyrics to Amampondo, and perhaps the English translation, I would so appreciate your sharing them. In Deepest Respect & Honor to the Eternal Spirit of Zenzile Miriam Makeba!
I am not really sure coz I ain't even South African but I'll tell you what I also read The Amampondo is the clan in Xhosa which she comes from,as well as legends like Nelson Mandela and Winnie Mandela... The song talks about how she heard her ancestors talk to her in her sleep. She often used it to introduce her band. It's also the breathing song to others. The breathing is significant to her clan as well Hope this helps. Pleasure 😊
It says" avel'aph'amampondo"? It's a question that doesn't need answer 😊 in Xhosa it's called ( umbuzo buciko) 😊 ..where Mpondos coming from..avuk'ekuseni
