Of all time? I don't think so, I do research all these questions and her name never came up🤷♂ She's still quite young, all the other authors have a head start on her, so maybe one day, she will be 👍

If a yard is 3 feet ,and there are 1760 yards in a mile,and you divide it by three why is the answer 5820,when 1760 divided by 3 is 5866?
Perhaps someone can enlighten me?
I'm not disputing the answer,just wonder how it was arrived at in the first place.
1 yard *3= 3 feet
1760 yards *3= 5280 feet = 1 mile

@@Quiz-Town if i put 1760 divided by 3 into my calculator i get 586,666.

I appreciate the official figure is the one you cited,but according to my calculator it arrives at a different figure.
@@davidbarlow350 It’s not divide, but multiply. 3 feet in a yard so 1760 yards multiplied by 3 equals 5280 feet

Okay,but surely dividing should give you the same answer as each one of the 1760 represents 3 feet,so dividing it by 3 should be the same?

No, 5280(feet) divided by 3 equals 1760(yards). 1760(yards) multiplied by 3 equals 5280(feet).
1760 divided by 3 is one third of 1760 which is 586.6. Which would be correct if there was 3 yards in a foot, but it's the other way round. Does this make sense? 😁👍
