The worst thing about buying a new deck is putting it aside too quickly for the next new one. I have done this repeatedly, so am becoming less and less interested in adding another deck to sit unused with others. It seems to be disrespectful for the decks I own. I want to control my addiction for purchasing new decks so may enforce a no-buy year for 2025. It’s hard to justify a new deck with so many decks sitting awaiting their time to be fully enjoyed, used regularly and appreciated. I have never gone through a no-buy year, but may find that I am far happier using all the decks I added to my collection this year, next year. 😂
I feel like we, as collectors, need to do what feels right for us 🥰 I’ve gone long periods of time without buying any new deck but it’s never been a rule for me. I simply didn’t feel like buying decks at that time. I find that this is what works best for me! At the same time though I never buy a deck only because I feel like I have to and I’m also very ruthless in re-homing a deck when it doesn’t work for me. The only rule that I have is that it needs to be something that makes me happy and not overwhelmed or anxious. There are enough things in life that give me anxiety already but my collection is my happy place 💓
@@janetdanes7945 exactly me too! I’m really doing a depth year 2025. I think 😬😆
@ it will certainly be a challenge not buying any new decks but I honestly bought way too many this year so should put blinkers on and not watch any flip-throughs. Good luck with your no-buy year and keep the content going for how you use the decks you own. I’ll certainly follow that type of video to be inspired for how to put more decks into practice at one time.
@@janetdanes7945 this!! Absolutely agree 💯
I really like Under the Oak , I think I’m attracted to the art work , especially very colourful ones . I have been pairing my decks this year and that has been a learning curve . I buy rarely , I look and see if they catch my eye , what do they want to tell me !hahaha I guess we play together . I say to them “ Tell me a story “ in 2025 I will look for more decks that entice me to play .
I agree, they deck is so beautiful! It reads like a storytelling deck for sure 🥰🥰
Hi Silvia, I would like to comment on purchasing decks. This is only my personal feelings and what I have noticed over the past 5 years or so in my life. I am a tarot reader for others and of course myself. I love Kickstarter decks and Indie decks and I also enjoy some wonderful mass market decks we have had over this time also. . I think personally myself, back before covid the decks that were out on the market in all areas weren't taking us to places that now the same RWS decks are. I feel that we are now getting to enjoy the experiences of what the creators are sharing with us in their art and guidebooks in such a new way. The RWS based decks have become much more push and pull.... (flow) there is much more space to travel with in each card. Getting us to see the cards and feel them in so many different ways which teaches us to expand, as a person, a reader and our knowledge in life as a whole. And thats exciting when you get to turn up the volume of your knowledge on any card with in the Tarot system. Don't get me wrong there has been many amazing decks before covid. But what is getting pumped out over the last couple of years has really helped our tarot community grow as a whole. So many people reached out to tarot and oracle decks over the covid period for the first time in their lives for support and understanding. I totally agree with you. You can love a walkthrough of a deck you have just seen, and feel its right for you. Only to receive it and it not be as noisey as you like in your hands during a reading. Nothing lights me up more than to receive a deck and it be so chatty. I have been reading tarot since I was in my early 20's and I am now am 55. You as a tarot reader yourself for others.... realize just how much you can still learn through reading for others each time you read. You describing what your feeling or seeing to the person your reading for, with in the cards on the table. Your reading what you know those cards to be at times, but also intuitively just as much. Gosh how we learn something new or different nearly every time we read for others. I have always collected decks, right from the beginning. But the amount of decks I have purchased over the last 5 years have increased largely. I have a few friends and we get together one night a week and deep dive into a deck of our choice. We choose a deck and purchase it each, and talk about what we see in each card together. Which is great because we all bring different things we see with in each card. We then read about that card in there guidebook. We all reflect on that particular card and if it spoke loudly to us or not. Its so interesting hearing everyone thoughts and feelings. Over this last 5 year period of which I talk. I have notice with in my spending habits that the Kickstarter and indie decks are ones I seem to love more. And are also the ones I spend more time with. I still love mass market but find it more hit and miss once they are in my hands. I know for sure most times the quality of the product in the kickstarter and indie decks are better then mass market. (Most times) Even though there is some really great feeling mass market decks out there these days. The presentation of the the Kickstarter and Indies boxes and edges of cards etc. Just do feel beautiful in may hands. I think because I am putting more money toward the Kickstarter and Indie decks, I am more careful in those moments about what I am choosing. Plus as you know shipping and taxes into Australia etc makes your realize what your truly spending . In the last 7 months I have started placing items in the Australia Amazon cart and not purchasing them until the month is up. Like I do with Kickstarter. When you back Kickstarter. You normally have a month to reconsider. You can pull out on backing that deck at any time. Until the final day. So I figured...I might do the same thing with Australia Amazon. And its been awesome for me. I have not purchased as many mass market decks, as I have had time to reconsider...like I do on Kickstarter. That month of waiting really gives me time to look at where I would use the deck I am thinking about with in my collection. I have also left Indie decks in carts for the 1 month during this time and I have also at times reconsidered and decided against it. This has become a great way for me to really know if I feel comfortable totally before purchasing any deck. Yes I am still purchasing decks. But no where near as many. I actually feel in totally control which is powerful. And my money is now going towards decks I seem to be wanting to keep. This has been a long comment for you to read. But due to how helpful I have found this method to be. I feel it was important for me to share. Again everything I have shared is only how I feel. I love this method I found and grateful to not feel like I have wasted my money as I have when purchasing a deck that hasn't worked in the past. I must also say....another reason I purchase a deck and keep it is the Guidebook. I know tarot and its meanings etc. But a good guidebook that makes you think outside the normal....Tickles me with delight, and this is what I think has happen with in the decks we are now seeing. Decks are being illustrated to push us into not only seeing what we know the RWS to be. If we can still love Tarot and Oracle deck after all these years and still continue to learn. Aren't we just so lucky to have found a hobby and tool that keeps our brains healthy. Take Care lovely. Terri from Australia 🙌 🇦🇺 🦘 💜
Thank you so much Terri for sharing such valuable insights 🙏🥰 I do something similar when I purchase a MM deck, I just leave it in the basket for a while and sometimes I end up buying it, sometimes I don’t. It’s teaching me a lot about what I like as opposed to what I need so what you’re saying resonates with me 🥰
Hi Silvia! Thanks for sharing the Awakenig Tarot, I found it amazing, very deep, to work with different issues. Greetings from Argentina ❤
Hola! The Awakening is truly fascinating, I’m glad you like it 🥰
Hi, I'm really glad you're talking about this, and I agree the decks seems to be getting more and more beautiful! Although, I have so many older, gorgeous decks, too. Basically, I have all the decks I need. Often, when I watch your videos and others, I ask myself, Now, what deck do I have that resembles the one you are showing, so that I don't go right out and buy this new, beautiful deck. I just bought Tarot of Tales for story telling, but your writing deck in this video looks irresistible!😂As for kickstarter, I too have supported more there this year than any year. Also, just wanted to say that I have some of these decks in this video, as well as Shadowlands which I really cherish. And I have the Modern Nirvana and Osha Zen. It's always fun to see you with some of my decks! Thank you so much for being here! 🦉🏵💜
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏🥰 I think the secret is to find a balance between appreciating and admiring the decks we see around and understanding that not all of them are a good match for us 😊
I LOVE all of Monica Bodirsky’s decks…Thank you for sharing❤❤❤
She’s an amazing artist 🥰🥰
Next year I am trying to stick to Mass Markets. I only want to buy them if it fills an area that is lacking in my stash. I’m also looking at bibliomancy, buying the detailed guidebooks on a couple of tarot decks such as the Illuminati and apokalysis.
Bibliomancy sounds really interesting! I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of choice out of MM decks too 🥰
Hi! Greetings from Argentina!! My next year goals are to buy less decks. I made a list of the ones I consider I’ll like (mindscapes tarot and desert illuminations) but on the other side, i agree of what you said: you don’t really know if you’ll love or reject a deck until you have it in your hands. I totally love decks I’ve never imagined, and had to sell ones I thought i’d love, but i completely rejected 😮. Big hugs!!
Hola 🥰 Of course, we never really know how much or how little we like a deck until we’ve used it and gave it a chance to bond! I think this year was exceptionally good, maybe next year it won’t be the same. Who knows 🤷♀️🥰
I just made a rule that I can’t buy anymore decks from Amazon because they always get thrown in a literal bag and arrive with damage to the box and it upsets me… technically, this should have slowed me down but then I just saw that the Fortune Tea Leaves were on sale last night and impulse purchased that 😅😂🫠 So I guess I can’t buy from Amazon unless it’s on sale? 🤷🏻♀️ It’s challenging to stop!! 😅😅😅
😉😉 I’ve had the same issue with decks bought on amazon! As a rule, if they’re damaged I send them back and I’ve never had any problems in getting a refund but it would be so much better if they used a safer packaging! I’m looking forward to Black Friday, there are always good deals 🥰
@ I sent a couple back in the beginning but then they’d just send me another one, also in a bag and damaged 🥴 given that everything else from Amazon comes in a box, I just don’t understand why they keep coming in bags!! 😂😭🙃🫠 Even if I order multiple things it’ll still arrive separately in a bag 😑 I just don’t understand 🤷🏻♀️😅
@@stacies89 it must be very frustrating!! Perhaps you could contact customer service and let them know, I’ve had to do that once and they’ve given me a $5 voucher 😂
@@fairlighttarot FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS?!?!?? 😃 Wow, they really went above and beyond! 🤑😂😜 yes, good point. I probably should tell them… then again, it’s probably for the best that I refrain from buying more card decks-at least from them! 😅😅😅 Give the littler guys a chance, too 😉
@ i know!! I can’t even buy stickers on amazon with that much money!! 🤣😂🤣
I have also spent to much money on Kickstarters this year 🙈
😉😉 It was a special year that’s for sure!
@ And it is still not over 🙈
Me too!
Hiya Silva, I found copies of that Mystic Journey Oracle on eBay & Etsy. Loads of fakes so anyone looking you know where to stay away from. It might’ve originally been on Making Playing Cards as I found a link, but says there is a PDF which I couldn’t find anywhere, no pic either. They match up so well w/ that tarot! With 💚, Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️🤘🦋🏍🦇🎃👻 (not giving up😂!)
Hi Jet 🥰 It definitely feels like a MPC cardstock now that you mention it! As you can see from my filming set-up I’m not giving up on my skulls yet 😉😉🤣🤣 We’re now drowning in Christmas decorations here, it’s crazy, it’s barely November!! 😳👻🖤
I'm wondering if you think you will ever reach a point where you feel like you don't need or want any new decks. I have about 300 now and there are very few that attract me anymore. I'm waiting on many KS decks that are taking a long time, but I have only backed a few recently.
Everything is possible of course but it hasn’t happened yet in 36 years 🤷♀️ I never force myself to either buy or not buy. There were times in my life where I hardly ever bought any decks and there were times where I bought one every day. The joy of collecting for me means I do what makes me happy. And there’s no such thing as too much happiness 😊
Hi Sylvia - this was a great deck review. I've watched a number of your videos lately, and I appreciate your insights. Blessings, Kathryn from Moonstar Lodge.
Hi Kathryn! Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. I love your collection 🥰
