Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because your line of thinking doesn't run streamlined with everyone else isn't a problem. If you're happy with it, that's great!
The office apps are still in preview mode....you have to upgrade them to the full versions for free. Windows updates have addressed many of the issues mentioned.
I'm with you, I've used them a few times and it just doesn't have the features or intuitive ui that others have. The only thing I can see it being good for is the collaborative creation and editing. Maybe they will get better in time, but either way, with Google, you're the product, not the consumer.
The thing I'll be taking from this is the normal windows 8, which should work well on old computers, because it is suppost to run on something simmilar to the surface. also, if they can utilize the multi-touch trackpad sold with most netbooks today, they are in for a winner. I still haven't tried windows 8 as an everyday OS, but my friends report it as more stable and user-friendly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Windows 8 SDK stuff had been out for a while. I do see the lack of apps as a detriment. Yes, the big apps are there, but according to the latest podcast, the Facebook and Twitter apps are from Microsoft and not their respective companies. I'm an Android guy, but I like the idea of the Surface and want it to succeed, but I feel like the Pro is what a lot of people want.
It's in modern / Windows Store version of IE as well. In general, I prefer to use apps to watch video if I can, though. There are a few nice TH-cam apps, for example.
It does have the desktop interface, and I can, and probably will make it behave like windows 7. What it does for me, is it's much lighter on the resource consumption compared to windows 7. and, since my phone (HTC one X) has tegra3 processor, maybe I can install windows on that?
I have had an Acer w500 tablet, with docking station, for going in 2 years now. It came with windows 7, but I've been running windows 8 since early developer preview builds since the first day it came out, till I purchased my own 32bit version. Has dual core apu, 32gb ssd, dual cameras, the works. Paid less than $350 for new. Think its a way better tab for your cash. Came with docking station, was not an option added for $100. You can plug in mouse, keyboard, anything.
you don't need a facebook app on windows 8 and the store is pretty knew but it's growing amazingly fast.. 20 days after the launch of win 8 there over 10000 apps in the store
if you want a laptop you should wait till the pro is out. if you want a tablet that is pretty and larger with a nice native keyboard get the RT version
No, not directly anyway, Minecraft's developer refused to support the MS App Store. So only on full Windows 8/Pro can you run Minecraft. Remote desktop or other game streaming can work though...
The complaint about the charging seemed a bit exaggerated. Like you're making something normal seem way more complicated than it is, like in infomercials.
this is depressing, I feel like I'm the only one that thinks this device is incredible and the amount of potential is astounding.. I STILL think its better than an iPad in almost every single way
It's not any more stable for me, just the same as Windows 7, so...stable. I think it's less user friendly, the disconnect between "Modern" and the desktop stuff is pretty big and it explains little. I think it's ridiculous that there's two different control panels too.
Please have a chat with the finger chap, he keeps interjecting the short chap, who I feel sorry for. His interjections made the video hard to watch as it seemed like he had better places to be
1) keyboard does not pop up because they don't want you to use the desktop ui 2) desktop ui not optimised for finger touch because they don't want you to use it 3) Microsoft want to move away from the desktop ui nature
The negatives about the surface are so small yet you make it sound as if there massive, waiting two seconds for an app to open isn't going to kill someone, having no apps in the market place the thing has been out for only over a week let developers understand the product before they bring out crappy apps that would need updating straight away because they failed. If you don't like the other interface don't use it lol, it just seems like this review doesn't justify the actual potential of the rt
the uneven OS has always been crap and the even OS has always been better. 98: good (for the time...) NT: crap XP: good vista: crap 7: good 8: ... you guessed it
The Surface doesn't know what it is. Is it a tablet or laptop? The screen UI is cool, but the kickstand and keyboard ruin the thing. The Ultrabooks that flip over and into tablets look way more appealing. It just tries to hard to be everything to everyone.
I really like this video, they had pretty good banter and covered all bases. Thanks guys!
good video, thanks guys. must be disciplined and hold off. i hope you do reviews on the new line of samsungs when they come out

Would you say that the surface RT would be a good platform to use for school? take notes etc during class.

Looking forward to information about the Surface Pro.

Best reviews on TH-cam

Very informative, been wanting to get a tablet instead of a lap top.
This was made last year so is it better now?

Thanks for detailed review, so will you recommend ipad 4 retina display !
I like this review better than when the surface 2 was being reviewed.
Thanks.
Deff gunna stick with paying the extra bucks to get the surface 2
I like how their "quick look" videos are longer than their "review" videos.
very informative. I will wait till the bugs are worked out thanks alot.
How download flash player for Windows RT , if I want to watch movie online ?
actually i think will was really looking forward to it, and they both enjoy the lenovo yoga, and i think they enjoy the surface pro
you don't need a facebook app on windows 8 and the store is pretty knew but it's growing amazingly fast.. 20 days after the launch of win 8 there over 10000 apps in the store
So is it worth getting
if you want a laptop you should wait till the pro is out. if you want a tablet that is pretty and larger with a nice native keyboard get the RT version
i wish they could change the camera from 720p to 1080p
The is the included Office suit...which is worth the money alone since they reduced the price. The market is picking up steam now too.
Yeah, the task manager is one of the few actual improvements over Windows 7 for desktop users.
Does anybody know if windows 8 has the same old task manager that Microsoft had in windows 7?
If you want something for work (that isn't the ipad) I recommend looking at tablets by Asus. My uncle uses one for work and he seems to like it.
Can it run normal computer app?
you had me sold untill 22 mins
No, not directly anyway, Minecraft's developer refused to support the MS App Store. So only on full Windows 8/Pro can you run Minecraft.
Remote desktop or other game streaming can work though...
Is RT separate from Windows 8?
agreed, Hulu plus seems to work fine but there is something about the way the Netflix app is built that makes it a bit clunky :{
Thanks, I like asus with the amd they came a long way in the years.
The complaint about the charging seemed a bit exaggerated. Like you're making something normal seem way more complicated than it is, like in infomercials.
Wow this guy is really amazing you pretty sold me untill 0:00
What do you think about it?
Who uses google docs? Honest question... anyone? Also, how long did it take to get a Facebook app on Ipad? Anyone?
What the hell happened to bluestacks?! They said windows 8 was going to come out with immediate android app support!
so you can have a tablet with a couple terabytes of storage thats amazing i want one
You are the first person to make that joke congrats congrats!
I don't understand - why need this touchpad if we got the touchscreen ???
this is depressing, I feel like I'm the only one that thinks this device is incredible and the amount of potential is astounding.. I STILL think its better than an iPad in almost every single way
Yeah it's been a feature since ICS, at least with CM9.
go look through the videos, there are some with Adam Savage and Jamie Howeveryouspellhislastname
Great "Quick Look" 25 minutes tutorial .
Yeah everytime they try something/a lot of somethings new, improve it on the next version for optimised OS. VIsta-7, 2000-xp, 95-98.
It's not any more stable for me, just the same as Windows 7, so...stable.
I think it's less user friendly, the disconnect between "Modern" and the desktop stuff is pretty big and it explains little. I think it's ridiculous that there's two different control panels too.
@7:23 Hydrogen Sonata nice :-)
This should have been marketed as a ChromeOS and iPad replacement. It'll replace both your iPad and Chromebook.
Please have a chat with the finger chap, he keeps interjecting the short chap, who I feel sorry for. His interjections made the video hard to watch as it seemed like he had better places to be
I have a tablet PC from 2007 and it still looks like a powerhouse compared to this tablet.
It's not a look at potential. It's a look at usability right now.
You can't run x86 apps on an Arm processor....that's just the way it is. Not Windows RT fault. Get Windows Pro if you want that.
Still don't understand why they they have to announce their names in every video. I haven't even seen Jamie and Adam since they joined them.
Awesome! Fully agree!
i didn't like the ipad, or the android tablets,
i was kinda hoping this would be better, but it seams like it's a bit unfinished
maybe next year
but will it play wow?
As of mid 2013, its almost a completely dead product. If you thinking of purchasing a tablet, I would seriously consider a Nexus or Ipad.
Hmm... this is actually quite impressive.
Multiple user accounts are already on Android tablet.
Are you two seeing each other?
Most of these problems were fixed in the 8.1 update
1) keyboard does not pop up because they don't want you to use the desktop ui
2) desktop ui not optimised for finger touch because they don't want you to use it
3) Microsoft want to move away from the desktop ui nature
I think janky is will's favorite word
Could you play minecraft on it?
Also has hdmi hookup.
lol he said some printers like it will barely work for any. It will work with a majority of printers.

Agreed.
It's not that bad. Apps will come.
When they sell this as a productivity warrior and the market has no serious apps you just realize surface is not worth it..
A 30 minute TV show minus the commercials take less time than this.. Too much rambling...
In all fairness to the Surface the Netflix App takes forever to load on iOS as well, think its just a crappy app.
dont get what these guys are expecting from something that has JUST come out!! dont be so harsh
it comes with it... no need to install
I'm sure Win9 will be better than Win8, but Win8 is much better than Vista ever was.
Waiting for pro, too
So I can have double the apps through android emulator.
Full programs, not crappy appy counterparts.
Chrome.
Can u download minecraft on it
Theres a nack to charging it omg you actually have to plug it in ???? Wtf
6:35 wtf is this guy OCD?
They don't. It's just something they do.
well send
the uneven OS has always been crap and the even OS has always been better.
98: good (for the time...)
NT: crap
XP: good
vista: crap
7: good
8: ... you guessed it
13:20 Heh, MS prolong battery life by making the user experience so bad you won't want to use it. :D
Kindle and netflix ^^
it has a much better one than 7
Android nexus 10 has multiple user accounts.
The Surface doesn't know what it is. Is it a tablet or laptop? The screen UI is cool, but the kickstand and keyboard ruin the thing. The Ultrabooks that flip over and into tablets look way more appealing. It just tries to hard to be everything to everyone.
7:23 I've never had sex with Gzilt...
rofl
same here except the toilet part lol
Im the chief BABY 117!
Is it just me, or does will seem really annoyed about having to make this video?
well im not intresting in window rt anymore...
thank you tested for making me save my money for something else :D!!
