First of all, let me tell you what I think about how RNG works in this game. There were many occasions that made me think that RNG actually isn't pure random. I feel that in the lobby, RNG favors players with lower rank, and handicaps players with higher rank. It is evident in this match that my progression was significantly better than my opponents, which all of them were of higher ranks than me. However I'm unable to confirm this with solid evidence, so it's up to you to believe it or not.
Also, many times RNG doesn't work within our logic. For example, when Knight isn't being contested at all, it's logical if one played Knight he would've had a good progression. Many times it's not the case, where a player attempts to play Knight and doesn't progress at all! This happened to me many times. My take home point is, don't trust RNG too much.
So how to tell whether we can trust RNG or not? My approach is rather simple. If in the shop you get the unit you need, buy him and roll once again. If you get desired unit again (same unit or different unit), buy and roll again. If you're not getting it, just stop. Be careful with this approach though, because you're very prone to destroy your economy. You should also always compare your progression with other players.
In this match I happened to have realllllyyyyyy good progerssion on Assassin and Rogue. Some other players didn't have as good progression, or they simply deliberately went leveling strategy. In my experience, playing leveling strategy isn't superior in lobby which heavily favors rolling strategy. So this is my another take home point.
In the midgame I was trying to predict which will be the most dangerous opponent, so I keep my options open, whether I want to branch into 4 Troll, 6 Assassin, Poisoner, or other. Eventually I played against Mage, so (luckily) I was prepared to play Scaled. I wasn't going full rolling strategy, and I balance my play with leveling, because the Mage was of higher level. This was a though match to be honest, and definitely I wouldn't have won if RNG was any worse than this.
