I've seen many Abba reactions but nobody reacts to Abba like you Dereck, you bring new life to the Abba's songs that you react to and I can tell you are totally honest and truly enjoy their songs. I have been listening to Abba for my entire life and just like you have said if you want to lift up your spirit liste to an Abba song. Thanks Dereck you did a brilliant reaction!!!

"If you have a bad day, put some ABBA on", yes yes yes, you´re absolutely right. That´s what i did so often since 1974. And Cassandra ended up being a "B-Side" of a single (A-Side: The day before you came), even not on an album.Later added as a bonustrack on "The visitors". man, even the B-Sides were masterpieces of pop music. i remember watching this show ( Showexpress) on german television, the third song was "The day before you came". On this show Cassandra had a "cold ending", on CD it fades out. i really enjoy watching your reactions to ABBA, it always makes you smile and u get shining eyes. many more songs to discover (thanks god). :-)

ABBA had been removed from radio 1 and put on to the older radio 2. I was teased and mocked about loving ABBA but i did not give a flying fxxk , they have been my emotional and spiritual sound and will be forever.

Dereck, I'm so glad you reacted to this- one of ABBA's very last TV performances as a working band. A month later they would go their separate ways. I agree with everything you say about 'Cassandra'. It's a beautiful, poignant song, right up there with 'Fernando' (IMHO), and it's a shame that it was only a B-Side. The accordion in it, to my ears, is perfectly evocative of an old sailing boat heading off to sea. Fortunately it has been included on most re-issues of 'The Visitors' where it adds even more elegance and depth to an already superb album. I also agree that Frida shines on this recording and in this TV performance, looking every bit the princess she would become 10 years later. Agnetha looks great here too, and you can see in their interactions that the two girls had a special chemistry and bond, and were not the bitter rivals that some tabloid stories claimed. I actually prefer this performance of 'Under Attack' to the official video, which I found a bit depressing, as all four members looked jaded in it, as if their heart wasn't in it anymore.

Frida is wearing the same hair style that is on the cover of her solo album "there is something going on". It is like watching scenes of the Beatles in Let it Be when their solo careers already started

So glad you reviewed Cassandra....and Under Attack for a second time. Frieda's voice is certainly spectacular. The remastered stereo track was definitely added to the video in place of the original mono broadcast. The recording is excellent, no real modification has been done to the studio track and it sounds absolutely beautiful. Whomever added both tracks to the video footage did a great job syncing.
Under Attack is one of those songs that grows on you after you hear it a few times. I enjoy it as much as most of their other songs.

Frida did lead on a lot of late songs, like on Super Trouper and The Visitors- Andante Andante, Me and I, Put on Your White Sombrero, The Visitors, When All is Said and Done, I let the Music Speak, Like an angel Passing Through, and Should I laugh or Cry. Also, although you say the song Cassandra is upbeat, it is all about defeat and being ignored, based on the Greek Myth of Cassandra, princess of Troy, who warned of the coming war and invasion but no one would believe her, subsequently her whole family was killed and she was left alone and sailed away as a slave to Agamemnon.

In fact, there are few real live shows on TV, even today (on German channels, but also French ones, maybe a little bit less) in this kind of programs.
I think Cassandra was missing something (a very small one), and the ending was shortened (I really like the longer ending). But the voices were perhaps even more magnificent. And I agree with what you said about the ending of Under Atack.

Ok so again, no strings all synths. The last ABBA song to use real strings was The Winner Takes It All. Also, this was lipsynced to playback, and then this version was dubbed with a CD version of the track. This performance is much better with live audio, so you can hear the ambient sounds and the audience as they were originally heard. And plus you don't get the end when the audience rushes the stage.

Fans still beg for these songs, but he doesn't give them, he doesn't like Agnetha, it's evident from all his reactions, in the song when Agnetha sings solo parts, he never emphasizes or praises her, he highlights and just comments on Frida or Benny's keyboards or bass or Frida clapping or her hairstyle or clothes, all the time. I'm used to the fact that his comments are not in favor of Agnetha, it always just exalts Frida or the instrumental side, not Agnetha's singing. He is obsessed with Frida ....

@@aiziszizis2536 That's nice, but can you tell me the videos? I haven't found any yet !!! And if he says 1 sentence that it's "good", then soon we hear 50 sentences about Fida that it's excellent and that's the difference. We understand? I don't care anymore, I won't deal with it anymore ... a pity of words, a pity of time ....

There has been a little phenomenon for about a year, the TH-cam "reactions" channels, more or less young Americans seem to be discovering ABBA, there are about twenty of them who have put several pieces of abba and a dozen who have put at least ten on their channel. It pleases all those who have known their repertoire for more or less time!🇨🇵🇸🇪🇦🇺..... 🇺🇸..

Yes, Dereck is very friendly, playful. Jaybriel Akoi, he is much more analytical, technical musically. Sincerely K. O. S is adorable too, she reacted even more with her heart her sensitivity than "our" Dereck. Il est possible que Bjorn.U en ait entendu parler, il est très proche d'Universal music et président de la CISAC, il est au courant de beaucoup de chose rapport au catalogue d'abba !

Hi Dereck, I’m so pleased you enjoyed Under Attack so much more on the second time of hearing it. When you did your first reaction you said it sounded tired and end of the road. I felt that you initially didn’t give it enough of a chance, as I think it is a good song. So I’m pleased that you got a bit more excited about it this time around.
Frida’s performance on Cassandra is stellar!
If you want to hear more stellar vocals from Frida, together with an off the charts vocal blend of the two girls, you should listen to Put On Your White Sombrero. The vocals are stunning!
Keep the Abba coming, I love it and I love your channel 😃

This was performed live at Saarlandhalle in Saarbrücken (Germany) on November 11, 1982 for the final episode of "Show Express" on the German ZDF public television broadcaster. I faintly remember watching it live with family (my parents were big fans owning all the album vinyls), but being only 7 years old back then I couldn't yet fully appreciate ABBA, and that this became their final performance in Germany just a few months before they broke up. It was the only time worldwide that "Cassandra" and "The Day Before You Came" (not part of this video) were performed live.

This performance of 'Cassandra' & 'Under Attack' is from a 1982 German TV show called 'Show Express' ABBA also performed 'The Day Before You Came' on this show and they weren't singing live it was lip synced.

I grew up my very early years listening to ABBA. I just love them. I've discovered more of their music advice gotten older. What's different from their music vs many other groups/bands is that their later music I prefer much over their earlier works. To me, as they progressed their music improved. Then, boom, they were gone. I hear they'll have new music soon. Looking forward to that.
