My very first listen & experience to Metallica was 1990. Buffalo had a 'Monsters of Rock compilation concert. I was 18. Fell in love with Metallica on the spot. I'm female & was a die hard fan!😊
Yes, inspired by a movie. I never have been a huge fan of them, but this is by far my favorite musically. That break down in the middle, though ! Just wished they had more of bass ( Jason ) in the mix.
Its ok to still rock out to this song just do it watching their performance of this live in Seattle its certainly worth watching next. Its pretty epic Also, Nothing Else Matters
This song embodies what it’s like to be trapped inside your body with no control. As a cancer survivor and someone who has had chronic pain my whole life, I can relate. It’s very deep.
Let's Gooooo! I've seen them 3 times .Master of puppets ,ride the lightning and the black Lp tours and they kicked my ass every time. For Whom the bell tolls live is a must my friend. Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️
I'm actually planning to release a cover of this on my TH-cam channel for Veterans Day this year. This is based on the movie that's in the video. It's called Johnny Got His Gun.
💯 do it. It’s the song that’ll bring a group of trained jacked grown-ass men to tears in a drunken hour. It’s a small mercy that some have served and perished without suffering such nightmarish fate.
I remember the first time I ever saw this on MTV. I was like 5 years old.. creeped me out then and it creeps me out now. Best metal music video of all time and it's not even close
Metallica is on tour, it's actually a 3 year tour. I caught them last month in Seattle. They have so much material that they have ingeniously divided their concert date by 2 with no repeat weekends then off to the next major city. They mostly play NFL stadiums. They still sound and perform great. I've been following them since their beginning. This is depressive and horrific song that you nailed the meaning. At the concerts, they show a WW1 soldier going through war and the hospital scenes too. Metallica has deep meaningful songs that other secular bands don't talk about. For example, Creeping Death is about the horrors of being under Pharaoh's rule.
Great reaction. You picked up on what was happening very quickly. Seen alot of reactions to this song. It's amazing how many don't get it. Well done sir.
Great song. I remember hearing Kill em All and just not knowing what I just heard it was Hit the Lights. Music changed for me at that time as it did for millions of young Metal heads.
This was their first true video, and quite possibly one of the best ever made IMHO. Incredible live with all the pyrotechnics going off. I still have my video tape from when it debuted on MTv.
Can you do a video reaction to Kentucky band Black Stone Cherry? "Lonely Train', 'Blind Man'', 'White Trash Millionaire', 'Yeah Man' (live version). Great band and drummer John Fred Young is awesome!
I was just a kid when this came out, and I didn't understand the meaning of this song. Now that I've grown up and I can fully understand it, every time I listen to it, it breaks my heart 💔
Possibly the most emotionally impactful music video ever. The only competitor to it that comes to mind is James Blunt's "Monsters" (the official music video.)
They won a Grammy for this song it’s talking about the war and what it does and what it can do to people in the life that they live behind after war it was really intense
Imma need you to listen to Alterbridge- either Boackbird live at Wembley or Words darker than their wings- live at Royal Albert hall with the parallax orchestra. You will NOT be disappointed with either
Steven, I just wanted to say how happy I am that you’re carrying the channel on, on your own. We appreciate all of your hard work that you do for us. You’re doing a great job! Metallica has been my favorite band for decades so I guess I forgot what it was like to experience ‘One’ for the first time. Although it’s an incredibly sad & horrifying backstory, I think it’s a musical masterpiece. It’s a very real song about war.
Really appreciate the kind words and so glad you are enjoying the content! This tune is incredible and I have always loved the instrumentation! However, I had no idea it was this deep lyrically! Such a banger all around! Thanks for hanging out! 🔥

Man you have to check out Metallica’s cover of Turn The Page! They absolutely killed it and if you want to hear it live they did it on Howard Stern. But the official video does a great job of telling a story.

They do that kind of procedure for neurosurgery but they generally give you basic anesthesia not enough to sedate you but just enough for you to maintain your motor functions so they can see if they are doing any potential damage to your motor skills ! Neurosurgery sucks ! I am a neuro patient , died on the operating table while they were doing anesthesia reversal . I was under anesthesia for 32 hours ! As your body relies on the equipment for assistance it can cause be difficult to recover from it and you can actually die from it too! I laid unresponsive for roughly 5 minutes ! The good news is they removed a brain tumor that was 8cm in diameter, I as a patient hold the longest surgery record at WVU Medicine , Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown WV! Too bad I don’t hold the state record lol but I can deal with the local record !
