    This video is part 2 of my gasifier videos, for part 1 click here- • How to Make a Generato...
    (This video is for Educational and Demonstration purposes only!)
    This was a fun experiment, Its not perfect but its good for demonstration on the basics of gasifiers. The Air blower I added worked good and got it nice and hot, its mostly just needed in the beginning and once the gas production went up I was able to leave it off. The smoke that was passing through the bubble filters wasn't good for the engine but it still runs fine, ill make a better filter next time I use it.

      I would take a step back or two with that lid screwed shut like that.....
      Pressurised highly combustible gas in a closed container encased in naked flames.... jupp it's not a gasifier any more it's an I.E.D :p

      So that capacitor is like a flywheel in essence right? So if you were to mount a flywheel on it then you don’t need that right?

    • @ExperimentalFun
      @ExperimentalFun  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Basically yeah, its just a way to store some extra energy for the starting load so yes technically you could use a heavier flywheel and that would be another way to store some extra energy :)

    If your lid keeps popping off, you've got too much pressure in the line, likely due to having your line submerged too deep.
    Instead of drilling a bunch of holes in the lid and losing half the gas, i'd suggest buying some five or ten pound iron weights, the sort meant to be used on a bench press bar. They're small enough to stack on top of eachother without getting in the way, and there's a convenient hole right in the middle which would allow your copper tube through. Five or so of those and you likely won't have issues with popping your lid anymore.
    Also, try replacing your first flashback arrestor's water with vegetable oil, it'll likely catch more of the particulates as the bubbles rise through it.
    To filter the gas even more using the oil, pinch the end of the line to create a nozzle and decrease the size of the bubbles.
    The increased surface area will give more particles a chance to fall into the oil.
    Also, for your second filter/arrestor, i'd try using water with ice in it.
    The garbage you're burning likely has a lot of water vapor in it, but the gas will have cooled a lot as it passes through the tube and the oil, so if you pass it through icy cold water after that, some of that water vapor may condense out and not make it to the engine.
    If you'd like to cool the gas even more, try running a coil of the tube through a two-liter bottle full of water before it reaches the oil.
    Just cut the top off and seal the bottom hole with epoxy.
    Just a note, the oil being used as an arrestor/filter will probably eventually turn into a sludge that can also be burned to cook more trash.
    I'd love to see this small setup running more efficiently, and i think if you take a look at a channel called "oil burner" you'll find a number of methods of using the waste oil (and that blower) to cook more gas.
    In the future i wouldn't bother using a blower on an open fire like that, as you're better off just punching holes in the bottom of the outer can to allow natural airflow through. Your fuel will burn cooler and last longer, and it won't be so rough on your setup, which i saw glowing red there.
    And judging by the sound of that engine, i think it can produce more power than that, especially if it has more gas to work with.
    Try adding a gearbox to get more speed out of the rig.

      Just water would also work, just less efficiently. You'd need another copper coil and two or three liter bottle for it, then.
      Also a trap for the water being produced, with a valve for occasional drainage.

    Couldnt you use larger diameter copper tube and larger mason jars for more efficiency?

    • @BolinFoto
      @BolinFoto 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cooling of the gas is more important than the diameter of the pipe.
      Hot gas is less dense, so if you cool it down you'll get more gas in a smaller space.
      The particles are the problem they clog up the engine but you can easily just filter it through some sawdust.
      Of and the more water in the fuel the more water in the gas and "Wet" gas is not as efficient but that can be remedied using an expansion tank where the water can precipitate out of the gas and collect at the bottom.

      But the energy released by the fuel is equal to the energy required to make the fuel and quite a bit of energy would be lost in form of heat and leaks. I dont know which power is needed for which kind of hho gas production. It could be tricky. In case of a car which can offer 350W instantly, it is perfect for cleaning the exhaust and make it about 95% cleaner. Would this mini engine run with 100 or 200 ? I would moslty love to find out ) It is possible to take as much ampers as you need from the generator by series of electrolysis chambers. (and dont forget to equalize the axis finally ))

    Am i understanding it correctly? The engine is running from fumes? Not gasoline?

    • @danielthomas1589

      Yes no gas

      Wood fumes are explosive when heated without oxygen

    • @edifyguy
      @edifyguy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, WITH oxygen. Wood vapor will spark ignite in an oxygen mixture, just as gasoline will. Liquid gasoline will not, hence the carburetor to vaporize the gasoline and mix it with air on a normal engine like this.

    the connection of engine and motor is unbalanced by the one ring screw you are using, add more of them IN a balanced position. or connect it by ducktape in case it will work :D
    it will put less work to the engine

    • @bramboraail
      @bramboraail 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and almost cancel vibrations

    • @bramboraail
      @bramboraail 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I realized you have two ring screws, I remembered it as one, because you have both of them in the same position.Just turn one of them up and other down,(I mean the screw heads), it will make 50 to 80 % less vibrations. It will also make the engine to spin more easy.

    You waste more electricity then generate electric because of the blower

    • @ExperimentalFun
      @ExperimentalFun  6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      It does you a lot of electricity but it can run the bower and still make more electricity, It actually doesn't really need the blower I just added that so i can get it up to temperature faster and make it hotter if needed, this was all just an experiment for me anyway

    • @whatsup5914
      @whatsup5914 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For a air filter you could cut the bottom off two 2 liter pop bottles and put a few coffee filters on with elastic bands and then press one over the other and tap them together. And then connect hoses acording. Large surface area for handling lots of smoke. Awesome videos btw you should try differnt types of garbage like plastic.

      A wood gasifier takes wood chips, sawdust, charcoal, coal, rubber or similar materials as fuel and burns these incompletely in a fire box, producing wood gas, solid ash and soot, the latter of which have to be removed periodically from the gasifier.
      Basically if it can be grown, it can be used..
