Enjoyed seeing you wash the wool. To know that pile would turn into something beautiful was very special. That scarf was really GORGEOUS and I know the new owner will LOVE it. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing the process of washing the fleeces with us all - it’s a lot of work, but worth it I’m sure, when you see the finished result. Elfin’s weaving is just beautiful - she must be very proud of her commission piece😊👍
Such a beautiful piece of work that Elfin has made and a wonderful video. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The colours and patterns in your weaving are gorgeous too. Thank you so much for sharing your days with us. 😊
Thank you for sharing your wool washing and weaving. I really enjoyed the tour of the long houses, etc. So interesting to see how people lived before the days of modern conveniences.
Watching again..just watched on Patreon..such a wholesome video.. Lovely weavings.. Such a lot of work goes into your weaving from the beginning stages.. washing the wool etc.. great to see the process.. Love your video's.. Thanks again..❤❤✨✨
Wow thanks for sharing. Elfin you are inspiring and well done on your creation. I learnt so much from your fleece washing section. I will be trying your method. Unfortunately where l live in Australia we don't have green pastures for as long as you do so our fleeces are full of VM veggie matter. So worth the effort though. Happy creating from Down 🐑🐏 Under.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, I will tell Elfin about it 🥰 I'm glad the wool washing was useful. That's interesting how the fleeces are different condition coming from different land around the world. Thank you, happy creating to you too 🌼💗
I love this episode so much! Elfin is doing her own commisions now, that is incredible, and so amazing how you are raising her, raised up on an art farm, the future will be beautiful! I too am weaving on my 32" 8-shaft loom, but super fine cotton and linen threads, and I must say , I prefer what you are doing; so as soon as all this linen comes off my loom, I'm going to try some twill work in my own handspun wools. Thank you , as ever, for all the inspiration you radiate out to the world from your magical place!
@@Jen-pz6qg hi, that is so lovely to hear, thank you so much for your lovely comment and kind words! Your weaving sounds beautiful, what are you going to do with it when you take it off the loom? 🥰 Thank you very much! 💗
@@LeaWildCreative Lea, I don't expect you to remember but in the last year of learning to weave it is a great coincidence that I too have gotten the same looms as you have, unknowing of your channel. I first bought a small Ashford rigid heddle Knitters Loom, then the huge Ashford 48" rigid heddle, then only afterward did I give in and buy the Ashford 8 shaft in 32" size. I've been enchanted and inspired by your work, but have been a spinner/knitter/wool person for decades, only now learning to weave though, so much to learn! I absolutely am amazed at how you and your daughter get so much done! As for the weaving fine linen, I am only sampling, learning, this piece will not be anything, linen is very difficult to weave, but I'll be blogging about the whole experience. I kind of get carried away on the weaving notes in my posts (my blog is jenjoycedesign.com/ ) Thanks again for making wonderful videos sharing your artful work and life with us out in the world!
@@Jen-pz6qgah that's lovely, we have the same looms 😍 I love the 48" rigid heddle loom, it's lovely to weave on 🥰 Thank you for sharing your blog, I'll look it up 😍
Thank you for a lovely vlog . Beautiful creations by you and Elfin. Love the colours and cant wait to see what you are going to do with yours Lea. Elf is an inspiration - how lucky she is to have a creative Mumma to learn from too. I really found it useful the fleece washing - I joined my local spinners and weavers guild and they do some cool stuff but I am a newbie to it all still and basic info and practical like this is so useful. I know what I will be using my polytunnel for as well as veg growing. Happy Autumn Equinox and look forward to tea in the wagon. xxx
@@taniamcallister6840 hi, thank you so much for your lovely comment, that's so nice, thank you from us both 💗 It's lovely to hear from you and I'm really glad the wool washing was helpful. It's great to hear that you are learning how to spin wool and have a poly tunnel to dry the fleeces, it works so well to dry them. Happy Autumn Equinox to you 🥰🍁🍄🍂💗
Have you ever tried a suint bath? Three of my Shetlands rooed their fleece so I thought I'd try a suint. Absolutely stinks when you take it out of the bath but when it's dried it just smells like clean wall. I like it, it keeps a little of the lanolin, which makes spinning easier . I've another three fleeces in the bath now, which I must take out soon. It's a slow method, takes about two or three months for the bacteria to break down the lanolin and release the dirt, but I prefer slow and natural. Lovely video. :)
There is so much work that goes into the making of yarn to weave. Wonderfully informative…. Someone mentioned your mom who also weaves? Do you have a video of her?
I'm glad you like the video, yes it's so labor intensive to make yarn. I was talking about my Mom's sewing in one of the vlogs, she doesn't weave but she makes beautiful quilts, there's one in one of the vlogs but I can't find it, I'll reply again with which vlog when I've found it.
