I don't understand most of these criticisms. It really feels like you expected a godlike masterpiece, a Picasso of platforming to come out, when he's trying something completely new and different to geometry dash. I've never been a fan of the base game and this update is what it took to make me start enjoying the game. It brings a new perspective to the game and brings more people to the community, it's new. Dash, sure you can say it feels rushed considering the quality dip from start to end, but with the tower it feels really fun and high quality in my opinion and I hope to see it get even better.
I really don’t think the latter part of Dash is that bad. A major worry people had upon seeing the trailer was that the level would be impossible to sight read, but it introduces a medley of 2.2 gimmicks in a very digestible way. Though it could be more creative with decoration and gameplay, it’s better this way than to leave players feeling overwhelmed. The ball part and buildup part for example is very barebones in terms of gameplay, but that’s because most players are not used to going ⬆️⬇️↩️⤵️↔️🔃 while playing a level.
Yeah the players are not used to it and robtop gives the player like zero time to get used to it and expects they already know it... which you know... isn't the MOST fair.

I personally really like dash. It’s a good introduction level. It’s not trying anything too crazy but it really doesn’t need to be. The fan made versions of dash are cool to look at but they don’t feel like base game levels, they feel like a fan made level. Not a bad thing but for a level to introduce the basics of this update, I say robtop did a good job. I do agree though that the start of the level is a bit meh.

Some parts of electrodynamix are maybe fun but *DAMN* the rest of the level is mediocre to straight up bad. -oh and i will use this opportunity to complain about its 71% transition, that is quite possibly the worst transition in any official level.

as someone who grew up on the Papa Louie platformers, I love the Tower levels, the boss fight ones in particular. When you grow up with stuff like this, you appreciate the difficulty of the boss fights and having to do them from the start every time you die. That's not a flaw with the level, it's literally just how boss fights work.
5:52 As somebody who completed all coins in all the tower levels, yes it's a hell to do that. (The actual boss was easier than the mini boss at level two for me...)
I dont think there is any reason to hate on Dash because, afterall, its an official level, so its made only to show us what is possible to do with the new features If you think the deco is empty, compare it to polargeist, wich one is better? See? The deco is, also, just an example of what we can do with the new features

In my opinion, Dash is really good overall, sure it feels rushed but it still a really nice way to introduce new mechanics without filling the place with details.Also, THEY SHOWED US THE WHOLE HARD PART so we dont have to sightread anything!
dash just introduces mechanics. look at all the other levels which give you active tutorials, and teaches you how to play. now look at the beginning of dash where they just introduce lever and spider. dash is there just to showcase mechanics, not to be a level.
I'm sorry to say MatMart but this video was not very good. It just felt like you wanted to hate this update for some reason and just only dug into the bottom of the barrel for anything remotely half-decent. Dash is fine and the tower levels are all masterpieces if there's not enough sfx for you then make a game yourself
Platformer Mode having Practice Mode just kills the essence of the game mode. You are supposed to play a Plat. Level blind, and you are given free will to move and jump anywhere (plus Checkpoint object), unlike the default autoscroller where you can't go backwards and you start back at 0 when you die, giving you little room for errors. Also, Plat. Extreme Demons are only annoying to get through if they are designed like "I Wanna Be The Guy". Seriously, I feel like the creator was like "What if I don't apply game design 101 and solely rely on tight jumps and hitbox abuse since it's Geometry Dash and isn't any game like Celeste or Hollow Knight?"
I think you're disregarding the amount of unique levels that can come from platformer mode. Sure, there are and probably will be many platformer levels that wouldn't need a practice mode; but there will also be levels that focus more on platforming skill and being like GD and would greatly benefit from practice mode. Platformer doesn't need to just be Celeste or just be Geometry Dash; both types of levels can co-exist, and having an option for practice mode would just benefit those levels that focus more on raw platforming skill and being GD.

Not only do you have control of where to go and jump anytime and anywhere, but you also have Practice Mode along with the Checkpoint object within those levels. Easy and Medium Demon Platformer levels are already way too easy. I beat Forsaken City in under 20 minutes despite me taking 5-7 days just to beat 1 Easy Demon. I also beat Shiftleaf Temple and City Side (GDSide) in a single day, and it only took me an hour to do that. I am not even skilled enough to beat an Easy Demon in a single day, let that sink in.
Dash not only declines in quality as you go on but also in difficulty in my opinion. Luckily, i had learnt the first part of dash on the gdps, otherwise it would take me a lot of time to learn
3:54 as the guy that holds the Mobile World record for the speed run of the level, I can confirm that this part was a huge choke point and is what ruined my runs many times
So there actually IS a way to get practice mode in platformer, you can activate it using a controller. Pressing the button that would normally enable practice mode will enable it on platformer for some reason. I know that was not intended at all but I found that out pretty quick. It only works when you activate it using a controller though.
I was thinking about skipping cutscenes and I made a set of triggers that does so upon tapping the screen twice. I'd be happy to share with anyone who wants it for their levels :)

I think the hate for the new robtop levels is really undeserved. I love this update. The platformer is awesome. All the new levels are sick, and swingcopter feels really fresh and a great change from the old gamemodes we've had for the past 8 years.
5:09 Not "for some reason". Platformer games don't have a "Practice mode" because that just kills the essence of the platformer games. A blind level, but it's the same every time you die without any RNG thing (you can do rng gp in platformers but it needs to be good and not just "rng cuz funi") You just have a several skill issue
5:14 there is actually a bug that lets you use practice mode in platformer, if you plug in a controller and press the controller bind for practice mode it will restart you from the start of the level with practice mode enabled.

That takes equal amount if not more work than any of the masterpieces that you are thinking about You're actually just taking it for granted that it takes robtop the same amount of work to make a level as someone with a premade level editor. Robtop is coding the physics, the particles, the effects, the camera, creating every asset from scratch, doing the pixel art, and on top of everything he polishes his levels to a really high degree.
I personally think the precise jump into the door while it's opening is pretty cool honestly. Also, platformer mode is getting checkpoints in the next bugfix update. I found it really funny when you said "Now segregation is canon to Geometry Dash".
True. I’ll rather have good gameplay and decent decoration over anything. At the end of the day, the gameplay matters the most. Featured level nowadays are so deco heavy that it’s annoying to play most of them.

Personally, the Cellar was my least favorite level just because of the lack of checkpoints in the first part. I get why it doesn't have any checkpoints but for me it felt unbalanced and rather stupid

Yep, it's Fingerdash all over again I remember one time some dude put Fingerdash in F tier because it wasn't as good as user created levels and he used Ultra Violence and Dark Odyssey as actual examples
One thing i'm just worried about is how the dificulty curves in the tower. The Tower is the game's introduction of the Platformer mode, and while the start of it is easy to pick up for beginners, there are some parts where it seems like the difficulty suddenly spikes upwards to new players (for example, the "boss fight" in The Sewers). While they aren't too hard, they take quite a bit of practice for some players, or are just a forever standing obstacle they will never be able to pass. While the difficulty of the levels are one thing, I'm more worried about how that might affect the first impressions of Platformer mode shown to new players. Also, another problem is just how horrendous it is to play Platformer on mobile. You could argue "just play on a different device", but you have to remember that a majority of Geometry Dash players play on mobile devices. On mobile, the icon is controlled by two arrow buttons on the side, and the other hand is meant to be used for jumping/tapping actions. However, with both arrows in the same corner (they're also quite small), it's a bit hard to manuever around some of the obstacles and you'll sometimes just straight up go the wrong way on accident. This, combined with the difficulty of some parts, can possibly cause players to believe that Platformer mode is a terrible addition.
people saying "i waited 6 years for this?" is like dumb coding is hard in general and making a whole game editor is hard and making designs, levels, objects, server changing, etc is very very hard for a single developer people only say the update was shit is only saying that because the have been fed by other games with an actual dev team

1 thing about the criticism in Dash's boring ship and robot is that i can agree, but it feels like it was meant to be like this because now those to gamemode have COMPLETELY new physics, and you can tell how much heavy it feels. so altough i could agree with the boring part, if it wasn't, it would be a bit too much when gave it with the new physics -blue coins in the tower: i would disagree, 1st blue coin is just there to make you know there's gonna be blue coins, 2nd coin is hinted by glow and 3 one has a second platform below the other one. their all hinted pretty well (glow one is debatable) i can see people complaing about the blue coins being hided on the walls, most of them just having slight changes, but you can tell some of them are good, they are hinted well and sometimes have difficulty on 'em

robtop doesnt intend to make levels like top gd creators, they all mainly introduce something, or show more pieces to the gd's official lore like his platformer lvls

I think the hate for the new robtop levels is really undeserved. I love this update. The platformer is awesome. All the new levels are sick, and swingcopter feels really fresh and a great change from the old gamemodes we've had for the past 8 years.

Not "for some reason". Platformer games don't have a "Practice mode" because that just kills the essence of the platformer games. A blind level, but it's the same every time you die without any RNG thing (you can do rng gp in platformers but it needs to be good and not just "rng cuz funi")

5:14 there is actually a bug that lets you use practice mode in platformer, if you plug in a controller and press the controller bind for practice mode it will restart you from the start of the level with practice mode enabled.
Did you literally complain about the platforms not making sound when moving when they LITERALLY sync to the music?
The music that the platforms was syncing to isn't in the actual level. He just used it as background music.

Robtop is coding the physics, the particles, the effects, the camera, creating every asset from scratch, doing the pixel art, and on top of everything he polishes his levels to a really high degree.

True. I’ll rather have good gameplay and decent decoration over anything. At the end of the day, the gameplay matters the most. Featured level nowadays are so deco heavy that it’s annoying to play most of them.

Personally, the Cellar was my least favorite level just because of the lack of checkpoints in the first part. I get why it doesn't have any checkpoints but for me it felt unbalanced and rather stupid

I remember one time some dude put Fingerdash in F tier because it wasn't as good as user created levels and he used Ultra Violence and Dark Odyssey as actual examples
One thing i'm just worried about is how the dificulty curves in the tower. The Tower is the game's introduction of the Platformer mode, and while the start of it is easy to pick up for beginners, there are some parts where it seems like the difficulty suddenly spikes upwards to new players (for example, the "boss fight" in The Sewers). While they aren't too hard, they take quite a bit of practice for some players, or are just a forever standing obstacle they will never be able to pass. While the difficulty of the levels are one thing, I'm more worried about how that might affect the first impressions of Platformer mode shown to new players.
Also, another problem is just how horrendous it is to play Platformer on mobile. You could argue "just play on a different device", but you have to remember that a majority of Geometry Dash players play on mobile devices. On mobile, the icon is controlled by two arrow buttons on the side, and the other hand is meant to be used for jumping/tapping actions. However, with both arrows in the same corner (they're also quite small), it's a bit hard to manuever around some of the obstacles and you'll sometimes just straight up go the wrong way on accident. This, combined with the difficulty of some parts, can possibly cause players to believe that Platformer mode is a terrible addition.

1 thing about the criticism in Dash's boring ship and robot is that i can agree, but it feels like it was meant to be like this because now those to gamemode have COMPLETELY new physics, and you can tell how much heavy it feels.
so altough i could agree with the boring part, if it wasn't, it would be a bit too much when gave it with the new physics
-blue coins in the tower: i would disagree, 1st blue coin is just there to make you know there's gonna be blue coins, 2nd coin is hinted by glow and 3 one has a second platform below the other one. their all hinted pretty well (glow one is debatable)
i can see people complaing about the blue coins being hided on the walls, most of them just having slight changes, but you can tell some of them are good, they are hinted well and sometimes have difficulty on 'em
