Tyson Chandler had a sneaky good career. A ring at the NBA, a gold medal, a FIBA world cup, a defensive player of the year, stayed in the league for just under two decades and people remember him for his Hornets and Mavs days quite vividly. That's a top non-star career. Beats the careers of many all-stars.
One of the main reasons that Mavs won the championship in 2011. His defense, tenacity and toughness solidified that front court. He's the unsung hero and a very underrated player.
Tyson Chandler one of those dudes if your playing you know you know and want him on your team . Steady defense , and good offense . Solid locker room guy
It's obvious by now that Matt and Stack have massive respect for Kobe, as do I. They ask about him on most episodes. This is the best basketball interview show on the Internet, and one of the best basketball shows ever, along with Chuck, Kenny, Ernie, and, later, Shaq on TNT
I’ll never ever question their love for Kobe, but they also know that stories about him will bring the most traction to the show. It’s just like Skip mentioning LeBron every show: people will always tune in. I agree with you though, this is one of the best basketball shows ever.
They ask because the players they interview have history with Kobe... they don't use that as click bait... they're legit podcasters... and every Kobe story is usually a good one. It's not like KG asking everyone about the NIL or going overseas instead... you can only beat that horse for so long but every Kobe story is different so it can't get old
Got so much love for Tyson Chandler. As a Laker fan, we got him at the very end but was happy to have his presence on that young Laker team. He was the prototype for what teams looked for at the Center position.
Man Tyson chandler when he played for Hornets was a beast, big dude, good centre good rebounder good blocker, crazy thing was I literally thought about Tyson the other day, was thinking about when I used to play 2k7 on ps2 and would play as the Hornets and CP3 and chandler
Daaaaaaaaaamn @AllTheSmoke we been waiting! Tyson Chandler is a low key sleeper when it comes to the center position. Straight fucking Dog and a nba champion!! put some Respek on Tyson name🔥💨💨💨 keep killing it 💯💯💯
I wasn’t following Chandler until he got in Dallas that one year, and oh my goodness. He’s such a great defensive presence. I’ll stay and watch him play whenever he’s on the screen afterwards. Especially during Linsanity, I was just jumping for joy watching them two on the court. I always felt if Lin stayed in NYK it would have been so much better off for him. Houston got Harden, Lin story just dropped off.
Did they even mention Linsanity in the interview above? Seems like something that got glossed over. Tyson was integral to that story, so I wonder if Tyson even cares about that, especially when Jeremy was on this podcast before.
So excited this happened; love dude as a player. I’m from Louisiana, so him & CP to me hit different 😮💨 Melo being my favorite player, so him & the Knickstape >
I got Tyson Chandler n Eddie curry autograph as a middle schooler in May of 2005. They was playin the Wizards in the playoffs.. and I met them at champs in the mall in DC.. on a field trip from Ohio. Life lit lol
Super Crip was shot twice in the back with an AK47. Then, he played against Santa Margarita the next night & dropped 27 points with 15 rebounds! True story.
This was THE INTERVIEW for me right here. This is my era right here. We graduated the same year. I watched him put my high school team (Inglewood High) out of the playoffs at Dominguez. We all heard about the nigga super crip when we were in school. Never knew his real name. Just knew a nigga played for Compton High named super crip. We was banging on the football field and basketball court at Inglewood. And E-40's In A Major Way is my and a whole lot of other 40 year old California people favorite album🤟🏿🤟🏿🤟🏿🤟🏿
1:01:35 that part, i look at some teams with a lot of new players and wonder why their roster doesn’t have any older guys or guys that are at least out of their rookie contract. leadership is always key, especially in sports.
I grew up in the same area as Tyson I still never forget the first time I ever saw him walk in the gym at 13 he was the same height then as he is now 7 ft just a whole lot skinnier surreal sight.
Glad y’all brought back the raw content, hearing Matt say “fuck that nigga” was so refreshing😂 I’m glad y’all figured out why the views went down for a bit. Keep it up , this is why we all fell in love w all the smoke.
Crazy to see how much he game has changed since Tyson was in his prime to now. Who knows what kind of role he would have in todays NBA where bigs like him often become an afterthought. Sad to see Big Men like tyson become less and less
I went to middle school with Tyson in Berdo. In the 7th grade he was 6’9 and looked like a grown man. He went to LA for basketball because it was clear he was headed to the NBA.
My high school beat Tyson’s team and became #1 in the state for a few weeks. Also that same year UCLA practiced at our school and Jelani McCoy shattered our backboard. It was a scramble after because our school had a game on TV that night
gosh stephen jackson annoying as hell . not letting folks come out of high school is not them tryna hold black folks back . stop the madness . he act like they blocking our ppl from getting into the league period
I swear to god I said good kid mad city then he said it. I’ve watch every all the smoke episode ever. They ask the album no skip ⏭ question every episode, but I never ask my self until today. Definitely G.K.M.C
Hey matt/stack, great show. Can you get any former spur on your show, starting w/ TD, manu, steve smith, and/or wishful thinking - pop. Man, love this respect for tyson chandler!
That Olympic team needed a Chandler like this Team USA "needs" an Andre Drummond...It is weird the politics of those opportunities...especially how he is played off still in his prime...when they get minutes they man the paint and rebound at a high rate...You have to be foreign to be respected for hustle in the NBA now...

He played a role. Defense and rebounds never gets old
As bulls fan we should seen through his development and not draft Eddie curry

I was the only mav fan in school and when we got him. I knew we was going to win the ship! All we needed was a center
Tyson Chandler at his Peak was a REBOUNDING MACHINE kids today they just don't know
That’s why they r kids 😂
Hated when they brought in the tip to the backcourt rebounds smh he was a beast at that offensively late in his career
Not really but he was a hell of a rim protector
No he wasent tf
He was good but don’t push it jus cause u see him in interview lol
Tyson Chandler one of those dudes if your playing you know you know and want him on your team . Steady defense , and good offense . Solid locker room guy
That Super Crip story is one of the funniest stories from a podcast I've ever heard.
Bruh when he was like “WHO?!” I been crying I keep watching it 😂😂😂

Never disappoint, Tyson Chandler was one of the best. Enjoyed watching him over the years. Great Interview
One of the best of what?
59:39 that quote Stak said was profound as hell. Matt just had to roast bruh back down to earth 😂🤣💀
Got so much love for Tyson Chandler. As a Laker fan, we got him at the very end but was happy to have his presence on that young Laker team. He was the prototype for what teams looked for at the Center position.
Preciate you helping the Mavs
I graduated then they won the ring and I had my first daughter. 2011 WHAT A YEAR
Those lobs with him and cp3 were deadly and so fun to watch!!

They don’t need the help lmao. They had magic for Christmas sakes! They’ll need Larry Bird to put the icing on the cake
Tyson called me out when I was cheering for the Suns in Miami. Love this dude

You missed him in new Orleans. Cp3 had him looking like an absolute MONSTER
Every team he played on the defense jumped drastically

Needed this! Such a slept on center one of my favorites! Glad yall got him on the podcast
One of the best interviews. Fun all the way through.
Tyson Chandler was the 2nd most important player on that Mavs Finals team. Dude will always be right next to Dirk as a Mavs favorite.

Played against him in highschool at a preseason tournament. He volley ball spiked about 30 of our shots 😂😂
Sounds about right 🤣
Crazy u played against him and i played against Eddie Curry another Bulls draft he played with, only thing I used to kill Curry on the court

Outstanding show with a wealth of information on how hard it is to stay in the NBA. Matt and Jax were wornderful with the interview.

He went to LA for basketball because it was clear he was headed to the NBA.
Man Tyson keep doing your thing with Lively. Little did these guys know at the time y’all were gonna win the West! Let’s go back this year.

man im getting old i remember when him and eddy curry were labeled the baby bulls lol
Chandler looking like a Spartan, Viking, Mountain Warrior, or whatever fighter right now. And it was clearly visible on how he plays
No shoot around before a new series is crazy! Almost criminal.
Tyson was a beast even in Chicago. I was heated when he got traded
My high school beat Tyson’s team and became #1 in the state for a few weeks. Also that same year UCLA practiced at our school and Jelani McCoy shattered our backboard. It was a scramble after because our school had a game on TV that night
Tyson in his prime would be the 3rd highest paid center in today's game.
The fact that’s somebody really goin by the alias “super crip” is beyond me.🤣🤣🤣 that’s on par with blue face🤣🤣

Tyson wasn’t an all star but he was a winning player and brought great intangibles like toughness to every team he played with.
