Heart failure is simply defined as a chronic, progressive disorder in which the heart muscle is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. Depending on the primary cause, heart failure can manifest itself as either systolic or diastolic dysfunction. In systolic heart failure the heart muscle becomes weak and cannot squeeze as much blood out. In diastolic heart failure the heart squeezes normally, but becomes stiff and cannot adequately relax to allow for normal ventricular filling. In the presence of heart failure, in order to counteract the effect of falling cardiac output and thus reduced perfusion to vital organs, the body will try to compensate via two tightly regulated mechanisms.
The first one involves the increase in sympathetic nervous system activity. The second one involves the activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. This pharmacology lecture discusses mechanism of action of various drugs classes used in management of heart failure including beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors, aldosterone antagonists, loop diuretics, vasodilators, and cardiac glycosides.

I just hope my stupid disregard for my heart's health didn't cause too much damage! I am in pain from fluid on my heart. It has caused me over two weeks of little, to no sleep because of panicking from a crushing feeling that occurs whenever I lay down prostrate. On the other hand, there needs to be a much, much greater understanding of the dangers that are very real to over the hill people like me (55 yrs. old). I really hope I didn't mess up my heart permanently by my "Superman" nothing can hurt me belief. I could see clearly how this heart failure video goes about trying many remedys for the heart that got injured.....very eye opening....excellent!!!!

Finally, drug for HF 😍. I thought you forgot to put hehehe. But I understand it must be hard and time consuming to make even one videos. This is my main channel to better understand about pharmacology. Very informative videos ❤️. Been listening to most of the videos here. Maybe you can also put antianginal drug video, and all the CVS drug would be complete 🤗.

In Digoxin, the accumulation of Na+ in the cell instead inhibits the Na+/Ca+ pump which usually pumps out Ca+ and takes in Na+. this is how the accumulation of calcium ions occurs leading to increased contractility of cardiac muscle cells. The blockage of the na+/K+ pump is followed by blockage of na+/ca+ pump
