I thought Minthara approved if you let her take him though? Not that I ever tried it, but thought I saw it on the list of approval/disapproval for that interaction.
My favourite character on the game, never regretted siding with her against the tieflings whatsoever. She reminds me of a female vegeta from dragon ball z. Absolutely despicable to start with then becomes increasingly conflicted and loyal to the cause. Generally always looking out for her own interests but prone to being vulnerable too. She's a freak sexually too.
The biggest problem is that Larian clearly intended for the player to choose against Minthara. She is missing a lot of content which arguably should be there not to mention what is there is often bugged, or at least was at launch. The main issue is that opting for Minthara doesnt just give you an alternative experience but also an objectivly lesser experience in terms of the available content. Dont get me wrong a lot of the quests that simply dissappears are just extra content and not necesserily top tier - but its still a really dumb choice to loose so many side characters and quests only to get 1 other companion that has no new quests of her own. Its a damn shame since Minthara as a character seem really intriguing but its just hard to advocate to players to get her given all that you miss out on by doing it. The voice actor has been called in so that's something as it means she will at the very least get more dialogue through out the game but unfortunatly I doubt Larian are going to go out of their way to add in quests.
@pepparmostheelder I've never felt like I was missing out. I know its likely minthara was never meant to make it that far. But I'd personally have minthara over wyll and karlach. I know there's more side missions but personality wise wyll is too much of a puriton and karlach is a bit too overly positive for me. Minthara seemed more interesting and has the better redemption arc. She has real moving dialogue too once you earn her trust. And she wont get arsey if I do something wrong all the time. That's just me personally.
@@KTopics Oh yes I deffinetly agree on that. Personally I dont find Wyll all that interesting and his side quest is not all that interresting. Karlach is for sure a bit too happy child like - endearing sure but overall I think Gale and shadowheart fill that role perfectly well even if they approach it very differently. My main issue is the tieflings. Even though they arent companions there is just soo much dialogue and a few quests that you just miss out on. Feel like there should be a way of letting them survive. I dont mind losing Wyll. I also dont mind losing Halsin even though you need him to actually cure the shadowfell, which is also a fun quest - since both are boring companions compartively. But when you lose all of the stuff above its just a bit too much. Larian is clearly working on adding more Minthara stuff now so we'll see how extensive it will be but hopefully they add in *some* way of not shafting all the tiefling content
@@pepparmostheelderI feel like if you're playing the game on an imaginary timer siding with the goblins can be seen as the most expedient way to save your self. It's incredibly selfish and theoretically you could play the fight in such a way that you don't help the goblins at all. Just let them attack and kill the tieflings, while you just find places to hide after opening the gate. 1) In act 3, give Scratch away to that abusive dog lady, in Wyrm's Crossing. She has several kennels and you will hear her shouting at a halfling (or a gnome, don't remember). 2) If you ignore helping tieflings and don't kill them or Minthara, you can recruit her in Act 2, essentially allowing you to have both Karlach & Wyll and her. You will lose Halsin though, and tieflings will die on the road.

Long story short: Spoiler: He is a post office's dog officially. You visit this post office in act 3 and you can mention to the kennel master that you found Scratch. The kennel master in question is a cruel bastard, and if you call Scratch you can see him lower his ears and pull his tail between his legs when he sees her. You have three choices, give him to kennel master, intimidate her to fuck right off or kill her. If this plays it means the player gave Scratch to the kennel master and got him back later
I just realized you have Wyll AND Minthara as companions. How did you manage this? I thought if you had Minthara that automatically made it so you could not have Wyll, Karlach, and Halsin because you had to kill all those people for the goblins to get on Minthara’s good side 🤔
If you skip the goblin/tiefling quests you can still get Wyll and karlach. You then get to free Minthara later in act 2. However this locks you out of getting Halsin and curing the shadowcurse.
