Every time I hear this song (and it's a lot), the more I fall in love with it. Everything about it: the chords, the slow riffs at the end of each phrase, the vocal melody and the lyrics, it's the most hypnotic song. But then most Elysian Fields songs are the most hypnotic song. It just depends on which one you happen to be listening to at the moment.
One of my all-time fave songs since the very first time I heard this album back in 2000. Thank you for putting your amazingly sultry haunting sounds to classic Edgar Allen Poe. Beautifully done.
I am kicking myself that I hadn't discovered them sooner. It's only been about a year. I'm jealous that you and so many others got to enjoy them for decades. Is this really inspired by Poe?
I do understand music theory, but without perfect pitch, I don't know what they're doing musically. All I know for sure is that I like it! It's without saying that this song is in a minor key, though.

God...her voice is just mesmerizing.
Those chords are amazingly hypnotical.
My favorite song.
I just finished saying (writing) something very similar on this thread.
It just doesn't get better than this
Perfect. You guys have some of the best chords.

@@charlesberton2581 Yes it's a lovely interpretation of Poe's Dream Within a Dream.
@@argentiviolin I will have to read that immediately. I have read a lot of Poe back in high school.

Amazing voice, and the best thing: it’s real and she sings exactly the same as in studio version
Love you Jennifer Charles forever
I love all of your songs until Dreams that breathe your name. After that, I like a lot and skip some.
Thanks for your talent.
I noticed Jennifer Charles has a ring on her left hand in some videos. Is she married now or is that just for show???
