Things I bought from America:
Star Wars Coca Cola Bottle, $6.99 from Disney World Galaxy's Edge
Mojo Dojo Casa House T-Shirt (Target, $7.99)
Tower 28 Mascara in Drift, Sephora
Naked Sundays Cabana Clear Water Gel SPF50*: bit.ly/3VdsLMs
10% Hydrocortisone Cream - Target
Cerave Healing Ointment - we can get this in the UK!* bit.ly/4dRCFKW
The shirt I'm wearing is an old one. Love it.
Oooh, Ruth, the cosmetics/personal care section at Target is like being abducted by aliens. You march in there to get one thing, and then it's 20 minutes later and you can't remember what you've been doing, but in that missing time your basket has acquired a stack of stuff, ha! Glad your kids had a nice time at Disney World, and that you parents emerged with your sanity intact! Thanks for posting 🙂
I couldn't believe it!!
Cortisone is also amazing for mosquito bites! I can’t be without it in the summer. Pharmacy tourism is my favorite thing (Spain and Mexico for tretinoin cream!), but yeah over the counter drugs here in America are hardcore. I think it’s because of the lack of accessible healthcare, unfortunately. Lots of people can’t go to the doctor for a prescription, so the non-prescription drugs have to be able to treat real ailments.
Gaaargh ... just did practically identical holiday with my 9 year old daughter ... watched Barbie on plane, got the Star Wars Cola bottle, went to Target at least 157 times. Feel cool now 😆
Matchy matchy!
As a Floridian, I enjoyed your video. Like any tourist, I was in London in December and bought Panadol. It used to be available in the states years ago and it is the best analgesic ever. We all have our favs.
I always love hearing your stories. Love your channel.
Congrats on the book ❤
Went to Disney years ago but never felt the need to go back, I would happily spend a fortnight in Target! 😂😂
Would probably cost the same by the time you came out, hahaha
On yes. Target 10/10....disney 0/10. I hated it. 3 days in and I was barking to come home 😕!
Oh no, I can’t wait for the tablet story/I”m so sorry!! And I need to go try that sunscreen. What shirt are you wearing? Love the pattern
You always inspire me, help me make the right choices. And I think you’re bl**dy amazing 🤩
Ah thank you!!
I get a 1% hydrocortisone cream from Tesco (without a pharmacist)! It’s called: Tesco Health Bite & Sting Hydrocortisone Cream 1% 10g
Good to know with summer on the way (and more insects !)...😃👍
Oh good to know! For some reason I thought this one was 10%, lol. Maybe because it has a HUGE 10 on the tube.
Yes hydrocortisone 1% is widely available. Tip for really itchy bites is to mix with antihistamine cream and apply together.
Sounds like you guys had a great time in Florida! I know it’s been pretty hot down there already. My brother lives in Orlando. I’m glad she found some things that work out and I like your Coke bottle. That’s pretty cool. 😎
Thank you x
Love you Ruth x
Ruth, I’d love to see a before and after with the Tower 28 brown mascara and the Clarins. The T28 works well for me, better than others. Ordering Clarins now!
Guerlain mad eyes brown mascara is lovely. I use that one.
Ah YES!!! Forgot about that. And nice shortish wand which makes things easier..
Going into any big box store in N. America is soul robbing. There certainly is a lot, but it is actually a lot of the same thing in different packaging. Here in Canada we have the equivalent of the NHS, but in the U.S many people have to "self medicate" due to not being able to see a GP without paying a crazy fee. So they tend to treat themselves so to speak. I am married to an American, so I do know of which I speak. Live in Canada though:)
Okay Ruth.... we're all dead keen to know what that tablet is that you took. You tease.
The first time I went to New York I remember going into Duane Reade and being struck by what you could buy otc. I bought some melatonin to help me with the jet lag I always got when flying back to the UK from NY. Low strength, but worked a treat.
Totally with you on the Barbie movie Ruth 😊
: )
I’m with you! I hate Disney. I have heard that Animal Kingdom is fabulous. But, I’m not a fan of crowds. I love Target cosmetics/personal care. Even Walmart is fun. But every time I go I buy things I never knew I needed. My husband and I live right outside of Tampa on the west coast of Florida. We live in Odessa. It used to be quite rural but has changed over the years. We’re 2 hours from Disney and 51/2 from my old home in Miami. Love your videos.
Lol as an American I’m v curious about your opinions about our drugs! When I went to the south of France in springtime I found out I’m horribly allergic to lavender and had to talk the French pharmacist into giving me diphenhydramine, he insisted that onion granules would somehow work.
Onion granules 😂😂😂😂
Curious what US meds you tried!
We go through tubes of Cortisone for my daughter's bug bites! We keep it on her night stand. It's great.
Funny as ever Ruth😆
Hydrocortisone works wonders on bug bites and pimples too. Next time I'd recommend getting the ointment instead of cream since it has less water in it and stays on the skin for longer due to the texture.
Good tip!! Didn't see the ointment
Maybeline Sky-high I’m brown. Magic!
The Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High in Brown is fantastic
It's a good one but I find the brown more of a brownish/black color. The YSL lash clash in brown shows up as a true brown.
@@queens6583 yes same, it was very dark brown. But I think there's a new reddish coloured one too...
The Tower black mascara is great. The formula of the brown is different. The Brown is not good
Is the rant about bisacodyl/dulcolax??
Ruth - " I'm a massive Star Wars fan". Me: you are now part of my tribe and I couldn't love you more 😁😁 👍🏻😜
We went to Disney 5 years ago. Our favourite ride was the Avatar ride. It was beautiful! Unfortunately Star Wars stuff was being built at the time so we need to go back to experience it. Just need a lottery win first!!
I LOVED AVATAR!
Sounds like you have discoid eczema? I developed this on one shin yrs ago and as you say it’s so intensely itchy! Only steroid cream prescribed works for me
I've lived in three countries (America, Germany, and England). In America we can get anything really. I remember when I moved to both Germany and England and couldn't buy acetaminophen without going into a pharmacy and interacting with a pharmacist. It was such a completely different experience to what I had always known. Target is always my go to for so many different things. Though I would love to have Boots here in America.
You can buy paracetamol in all supermarkets so not sure who told you that. Unless you wanted a large amount?
You can buy paracetamol anywhere. You just can buy more than100 tables at once
You can get hydrocortisone in the UK = HC45 in Boots. Totally agree about Disney. Been to CA & FL - not for me, although if I had to go again I would go to California - somehow seems less "Disney" than Florida. CoverGirl Professional Mascara in Brown is great.
Just remember, there's a lot more to the US than just Orlando, California, Las Vegas, and NY.
@@Himmiefan I meant I’d been to both Disneys - I live in the US (MA)
Going to disneyland would be my idea of hell!! Unless I dressed up as a pirate, but apparently you cant because children might mistake you for staff.
Seriously? Hahahahhaha
Have you tried sweed mascara in brown? It has a want that is similar to the loreal one.
Yeah, I didn't love it tbh! I don't know why browns are never as good!
Finding a grey mascara is even more challenging, lol.
I hope you went to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins and feed the stingrays. I went to Disney when our US kids were in school and the UK/Ireland kids were off. I didn't realize until the 2nd day when we noticed all the different accents. A woman asked me about Trainor's and I was like, what? Sneaker's I learned is what a lot of people wanted to buy while in the U.S. Supposedly cheaper I was told. We bought the Fast pass package which helped a bit, but yes Disney can be a bit much. We've done it 3 times and that's good enough for me. Prices are ridiculous! When I went to London my main goal was to go to Boots and you guys love Target, CVS and Walgreens. Cortisone is a steroid/anti-inflammatory so that's why the rash cleared. Glad the kids had a blast!
Swim with the dolphins that are in captivity? We’re not all psychopaths 😂
@@ThePrincessnady1 And yet you sound like one.
@@queens6583 only one of us swam with captive dolphins, babes 😜
Could it be psoriasis that causes the itchy patches on your legs?
I don't think it is! I've had it for about thirty years and it has never spread, they are tiny patches!
HC45 1% hydrocortisone
Which Clarins Supra? Volume or Lift&Curl?
Gold tube, just says Supra Volume on box xx
@@RuthCrilly thanks!
All doctors recommend hydrocortisone cream for kids rashes - surprised this isn’t normal over there as well!
They don't like prolonged use of hydrocortisone creams because it can thin the skin.
@@Afrinaturality you beat me to it!
cortisone is not meant to be used freely and/or for a long period of time, that's why in most countries you need a prescription to buy
Love an American haul ❤ Thank god someone else thinks that re Barbie....my friends were moved to tears, me? not so much...😂 the whole thing was mediocre.
❤
The Barbie movie was so on-the-nose i didn’t get the hype. I appreciate that many were entertained by it. My girlfriends were shocked by my underwhelmed response to it, like I was anti feminist!? None of the ideas or monologues in the movie are new or original. They just happened to be coloured a certain shade of pink this time.
Yup!
Dior Overcurl in Brown, especially after using the whore lash primer is my go to. No crunch, no smudges; volumises and lengthens.
ahahaha American drugstores are insane aren't them?? We're Chilean (quite a good healthcare system here), I remember going once to a CVS in NYC with my husband, who's a surgeon...it was snowing so we stayed in the store for a while, and he kept roaming the aisles saying "this is illegal back home"; "this, at home you'd need a very hard to get prescription to buy"; "this thing could easily kill a horse", etc. Lol. No wonder they have such huge (legal) drug abuse problems up there.
Couldn’t agree more about Barbie. Just didn’t get it. I felt like the first half hour could have been going somewhere interesting, but then it didn’t. Completely forgettable for me!
The barbie movie was honestly awful. Couldn't finish it, just got so bored , and i dont get bored easily.
I have to admit I watched with one eye, really
Are you a man
Unpopular opinion. Dislike anything Disney
Barbie was the dumbest movie I have ever seen to be honest, in fact, a lot of people got up and left. I never understood the hype, and grown women crying over it?, sorry no.
