    Some coin roll hunters will mark their searched rolls with black marker as a courtesy to other coin roll hunters. I still suggest looking through them - you never know what another collector was looking for, or what they overlooked.

      My least favorite roll hunter hits his searched coins with a grinder and puts a big line on the coin. Probably not legal, but also ruins the chance of finding something different from that hunter's focus.

    Great video James! Right on mark. 2 things : 1st I electronically link my dump banks back to my main buying bank, this eliminates handing to much cash, easily transfer the cash back. 2nd I never take the bank boxes back with the searched rolls to my dump bank because you will get dirty looks and probing questions, use a plain sturdy box. And don't forget to keep your buying bank tellers happy with sugary treats!

    @CAD Roll Hunter I buy sheets for 1 1/2 inch sq flips. The flips are smaller than the 2x2s and hold 30 coins instead of 20. These are great for small cents, nickels, and quarters.

    Excellent video, very informative and interesting! I also really enjoy watching Rob Finds Treasure, what an excellent channel.
    I used to do book buybacks at colleges and universities here in Canada for an American company. Obviously I used to get a lot of rolled coinage although it was only quarters, loonies and toonies. I would never search the loonies and toonies because I never had any collector interest in those yet I would always search the quarters. In all the years I had that job, and all the thousands of dollars of quarters I searched I only had a grand total of 5 finds - one roll had a total of 4 (!!!) silver quarters spanning the late 40s to mid 60s, and another time I found one early 1980s British 5 pence coin, the old large type.

      Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked the video! Yes, I specifically ask for customer-wrapped rolls. If they're not sure what I mean, I'll ask to see what they have. Essentially I tell them I don't want the white wrappers that are machine-wrapped, and if that's what they have, I won't accept them. My regular branches already know what I want, so I don't generally need to ask anymore.

    nice setup, basically what i thought, but thanks for laying it out in an easy to understand way, there are 6 branches probably more in a 3 block radius near me, i am starting my coin hunting career this week, and it was my thought to grab the same amount from each branch, don't think i want that many bank accounts, i will see how they react, a bank i once went to had a coin machine as you entered, you could deposit right into your account, they charged a hefty premium if i remember, it didn't last long for some reason, i wonder if it was an attempt to pull silver from circulation, anyway, thanks for not wasting my time.

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. You find out pretty quickly which of the branches is friendly and accommodating (i.e., which will give you boxes of coines). That's the one you'll want to stick with to pick up your coins. One of the others can be where you drop off/deposit your coins.

    Hi, James;
    Sorry for the late comment.
    Really helpful video...thank you for creating it. I've been coin roll hunting nickels and pennies here in Ontario on and off for several years, but I'm really getting into it now thanks to your videos.
    Question: If I were to ask for a box of nickels at my bank branch (I've never asked for a box before, just bunches), do I need to specify that I would like the box to contain customer wrapped rolls? Also, is that something they would have on hand, or do they have to order something like that in?
    Thank you!

    • @CADRollHunter
      @CADRollHunter 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely try asking for a whole box. That's how I started. I'ad ask for some rolls of nickels, and they'd ask how many. I started asking for bundles, and then one day I said. I'd take a whole box if you have one. They said yes. Before that, however, I always asked for customer wrapped rolls. I had to explain what that meant - that I didn't want the white wrappers that are sealed on both ends, but the ones that customers can re-fill. That helped them understand what I was looking. And it's helpful if they know why. If they don't know you're a collector, a roll of nickels is just a roll of nickels. Good luck!!
