    Beginning of the year I was told that the best place to have money during periods of high inflation is the stock market and that the stock market historically rallies before the fed is done raising rates because the market is forward looking. Put my money in the stock market and now I’m down 26%. Now people are saying that you should be in cash until the fed is done raising rates. I should have just ignored everyone and timed the market like I was going to do.

      Timing the market in general is dumb idea. I'm up 30% with over $280k in gains from the Q4. You have to keep diversifying well enough if you must stay up in this market. No point In selling. It's better to hold for a year and get that tax cut for holding. Then sell if you want to be safe but wait a year and buy more if it goes down. Not wise to sit and hold on to money that should be working for you. just because the overall market is down, doesn't mean every stock is down and vice versa. investing for the long term is always a win

      I've been looking out for a better investing strategies. apparently both bull and bear market condition provides equal avenue to accrue massive gains. I was wondering if investing in a cumulative ETF during this next decade is a sound investment. planning for retirement and have like half a million in a CD account with a very low interest and plan on growing the bulk.

I took a glance at your advisor online, she seems proficient having passed the exams and all. still conducting my due diligence, will hold my horses till I hear back from her. The beauty of this method is that you don't give out funds here, you have control over your funds and you Can as well opt out anytime. I've been an investor for over 21 years. it is easier when the market is going up, but the true investors shine when it's going down. I've always went momentum with good financials in any market and DCA my dividend growth. Bear market are a great opportunity to accumulate more at a lower price for net worth gains

    I agree with your investing style Sven. I only have two stocks in my portfolio. This year I decided to focus on accumulating two stocks that I felt comfortable owning with the initial return regardless of the shares appreciates anytime soon. I purchased Intel (2700 shares @ 33.60 with 4,088 dividends) and AT&T (3400 shares @ 18.28 with 3,811.38 dividends). I have been waiting for an opportunity like this for years.
    Unless I find something else trading at a good discount I will continue buying Intc under 30.00 per share monthly into next year.
    This works for me because this is money I don't need for living expenses, and these two stocks added $658.28 to my monthly cash flow.

Jumped in/out again and only down 7% for the year. I missed the huge bear market rallies, but I am not down the 25%, where the funds I was in, currently sit. I am going to roll the dice and make one more Santa clause rally play. Hopefully pick up another 5-7 percent. I still have 10K cash set aside for Roth accounts before the year's end. Good luck and greens break to water. :)

    I have this question Sven. According to your explanation, I have found a company with p/e of 50 which gives a 2% yield and it is expected to grow at a compounded 24% per year for the next 5 years. Does this mean that it should yield a 26% annualized return?

    • @Otto72ish
      @Otto72ish ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Expect the P/E to fall over time as growth slows. In other words, returns are likely to be lower than current growth + current yield.

      if the growth after year 5 is still 24%, and the PE ratios stays the same, yes:-)) But as soon as the growth slows down, so does the PE go down, that is called the delta of the delta. th-cam.com/video/qLFaekkm6F8/w-d-xo.html

      @@Value-Investing you are correct, I was thinking about how many products are assembled in China and all the resources the west gets from emerging market economies. If the East cuts us off then we could be in for harder times. The BRICS nations and their allies are attempting to create a currency that will displace the USD and the Euro which would make things interesting.

    Great video as always, Sven. Let's say inflation is gonna be high for the next 10+ years. That would destroy the purchasing power of consumers, thus lowering the bottom line of almost every company longer term. With how the FED is not able to save the "economy" (more specifically the market) this time, we might need to be a lot more conservative with valuing companies. But how much conservative is the question.

    Thanks Sven. I am more pessimistic on future market. i think the young investor has been spoiled with the low interest market over the last decade. I also thought the market drop would have reached closer to 40% drop. The 35% drop in the Nasdaq did produce a double bottom and that looks like the optimal time to have got off the sidelines. I lived through the 50% drop during the 2008/9 crash so I was reluctant to jump back in.
    I expected a recession in late 2022 that never fully materialized. I think the current administration combined with the FED trying to nail a soft landing will prolong the suffering instead of ripping off the band aid now and start the healing process in mid/late 2023. I expect a sideways market for the next 4-8 years until a full recovery. Deep fundamental valuation in stocks, well funded dividend payouts, may be the ticket to success. "Friends don't let friends buy and hold" may become fashionable again :)

My question is do you think with the increase in passive investing, which can create an environment where asset correlations get closer and closer to 1, investing in great business face an obstacle for growth as they would serve as countertrending. That countertrending would be more and more difficult when correlations get ever closer to 1.
