When I heard that relegation was floated I was kind of intrigued. As a big fan of European football (where relegation is standard procedure at all levels of the pyramid) I never really understood why American sports didn't have promotion/relegation. Especially considering there are minor leagues for most/all sports (I think?). It brings an extra layer of jeopardy to every season. Like not only do you have to not be bad because you desire success but also because if you're too bad you go down. Also means that teams that are consistently not good go down bringing up teams that are performing in the lower leagues. It also means you care about not just the top of the league but also the bottom.
Personally I dig promotion/relegation
I'm South African though, so excuse my ignorance regarding the minor league systems in America.

@@rayniedayz3824 The draft was made to balance the large market and small market teams, as if there was no draft in place there would be nothing stopping teams like Los Angeles or New York from buying out all the young talents. It’s the reason a relatively small city like San Antonio has more championships than the Clippers or Knicks.
Pistons are last in the east and still fun to watch most nights. Cade on the break with Ivey on the right and Victor on the left. C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon. Easily the most fun to spot would be Detroit.
Detroit is up there, but for me NOLA is still the dream spot. Him, Zion, Ingram, and McCollum (plus Herb Jones) would just be filthy. I’d worry about their health, but if they could stay healthy they might not lose a game lol.

For Victor Wembanyama, New Orleans would be a perfect fit as a Frenchman in a city with French heritage as well as a parternship with Zion Williamson, who in many ways, ideally complements Victor Wembanyama in the frontcourt.

I think it's great that if goes to either Rockets, Hornets, or Pelicans. If he goes somewhere else with a bad roster, he might have the same problems as Luka where he got too good too fast that he's single handedly dragging his team out of the lottery, removing the chance to draft a number two beside him. At least in those three teams mentioned, there's already other young all-star or portential all-star talent he could frow with in LaMelo, BI+Zion, and Jabari.
