    Made it as written. Tastes good but a little more coarse than I expected. Will make again and use the sour cream and maybe an little more lemon juice.

      did you use cake flour? Did you use the buttermilk?

      @@dianeperkins364 Try cake flour next time. It will help the crumb be more tender as well. Sour cream will help too, in addition to the buttermilk. Use about 1/3 cup of sour cream.

    Just in time to use my lemons!!!! Last recipe I tried, the cake was so heavy in consistency that you could break something.....in reading your ingredients, I realized the other recipe had only 1 egg and not enough liquid!! I am better off using your recipes that always come out perfect and flush any and all of my old lemon recipes! Just a quick question, I notice you used shortening for the pans (as do I!) do you ever use shortening instead of butter in a recipe? At $7 a pound of butter, I sometimes wonder if it's worth it!! I have tried oil too but find the consistency to be well....oily!!! Thanks for all your great videos!

      @inthekitchenwithmatt ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! Yeah I think you like how this turns out. :) I don't use shortening in cake, but use it in other things, like tortillas, etc. Yeah I can't believe how expensive ingredients are getting! And you are very welcome :) Glad you like them, and always appreciate your comments.

    BTW if you don’t mind me asking, when are you going to finally get yourself a stand mixer?

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! :) haha maybe someday, when I stop enjoy kneading dough by hand. :) :) The Kitchen Aids go on sale every Black Friday, but I just haven't felt the need to get one. Plus I feel like my videos are more accessible if I don't use a stand mixer.

    Can you sub almond milk for the buttermilk??

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, but add a couple of tsp of lemon juice to the almond milk.

    If I were you, I would let the glaze completely set before enjoying it because I like the texture of the semi hard glaze combined with the cake texture. I think it’s better that way.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt ปีที่แล้ว

      Like I said in the video, you can eat it either way. The glaze sets fairly quickly though, so easy to wait. Some people prefer the runny glaze.
