I've been watching her videos since she started and her videos are always so therapeutic tbh but this is not what studying abroad looks like trust me unless you're rich rich and also it depends on your major how you spend your day. i feel like these vlogs give a really unrealistic picture of study abroad. for those watching: this is not normal. this is what study abroad is like if you're rich and don't take classes seriously. when i studied abroad, it was the same as studying at home...just in a different country. i wasn't going to fancy restaurants all the time or shopping and going out for drinks this often. i just don't want people to feel bad about their study abroad if it was more lowkey and also more academic than this.
It also depends on what you are majoring in. Because I’ve had friends that were able to visit really cool places during their time abroad and go out to eat with friends in moderation. It’s easier to let loose if your classes aren’t as rigorous Could I ask what you majored in?
agreed! i studied in paris and could barely afford my rent LOL, i felt bad while seeing my friends visit a new country literally each weekend, or being invited to go and having to explain to them i couldn’t because of finances. It was an amazing experience don’t get me wrong, but the financial aid was only enough to help me get by, while struggling with saving money, etc.
In her case she has youtube as a side hustle which makes her afford this lifestyle while studying abroad . Its a different case if your fully dependent on you parents and your parents are not considered well off or if you dont have a side hustle, even if you do it doesnt pay well enough. No need to feel bad coz no matter how similar the situation is each person is still under different circumstances.

Don’t compare your life to someone else’s . If your parents aren’t rich, it doesn’t matter . Work hard for yourself so your children won’t have to watch any video and say life would be so beautiful with rich parents

i live in hk too ! my recommendation for most hk events is to go around 30minutes - 1hour earlier to get a good spot! usually the mtr is always crowded on public holidays and weekends haha ,, i hope to see u somewhere around hkk
