Talk about a rare walk-off game-winning attempt to reach on a fielder's choice (or on an error, depending on how people viewed the in-game play was) while avoiding to be grounded into a double play and had RBI'ed twice to help his team comeback and win the game. Clutch moment for the Pirates Nation
It's both a fielder's choice and an error. The only reason an error was assessed is because the throw allowed another runner to advance (score.) If the first baseman had managed to catch the ball even if not getting an out at first and the game remained tied, or if for some reason the runner on third did not advance, no error would have been assessed. It would have just simply been a fielder's choice for Olivares, lowering his batting avg., but giving him and RBI. It does still go as a fielder's choice against Olivares, and he still gets credit for an RBI for the first run scored, but the second run scored is an E-6.
@@ryancallen2698 Then shouldn't the error be credited against the one throwing the ball and not against the one catching it to try to tag out to attempt secure the double play?
