Reggae as a genre will never die, maybe reggae artists in Jamaica should reduce their bargaining price because there are home grown talents all over the world, most countries no longer need Jamaican reggae artist to perform on their stages, they already got the home grown talents to do the job

I agree 100% they can’t give a good show but they want big money 💰 🕷️🕷️🕷️ look at ding dong he bring out about 50 ppl on stage and jus confuse the hell out of the crowd because they ave no talent 🦧🦍🦓🦛🦏

Many artists don't understand the business. Promoters need to earn a profit. I realize this discussion is Europe, but I know a young female JA artist who wanted US $16,000 to perform , plus rooms, plus per diem. Can she draw 1,000 people so the promoter can even break even ? I doubt it.

Who is it that are deciding the natural progression...we must understand the geo-political/economic power of the system...

IDying in the US. And US bands have filled the void. Sad but true. It sucks because a lot of real jamaican reggae music fans miss it! And a lot of these artists won't tour because they make more money just cutting dubs or touring Europe. But the fans here suffer. News flash! Most reggae fans don't care about the sound clash culture. Just stating a fact. I myself love it! But...in the long run....fans are forgetting about the artists. They are no longer relevant, and the music suffers as a whole!

Is anyone surprised, is anyone watching what's actually happening in America with Reggae. A lot of white American reggae bands have undercut the Jamaican bands (even before Covid), artists and look now bands like Raging Fyah, Earthkry even Steel Pulse yes Steel Pulse do not headline their own tours anymore.
There are many Roots sounds in Europe but where are the roots sound from JA...?. Burning Spear can literally come out of retirement and still command his own tour, and now release another album. I really believe if you are musically consistent you can build a solid musical foundation and longevity. You can command your price.
Is JA music industry aware of what is happening musically and business wise?.

The ting bout Europe is dat dem keep to dem selves. Europe is saying now dem nuh want Jamaican artist after learning the reggae formula. Europe take de Record Stampers too. It is an attack on Jamaican music. To me let dem European be. Leave dem alone, but fi Jamaica 🇯🇲 we need to say this music dat you Europeans tek from wi Jamaicans. Fi reggae festivals ; get we own Jamaican reggae promoters who live is different countries.

You need to define dancehall. In the 80’s and 90’s Dancehall was different and it was reggae music. Dancehall of today is a different genre. Do please define things properly and I’m old enough to know.

i dont know where you guys are looking because im in england and do band tours every year at most of the festival in england , (and im not a big artist)and europe, Roots Rock Reggae a fya same way, look at the artists that get booked every year, Dancehall is another argument. spear and the rest are still filling venues, with old and young ? what about Cronnic, Protoj, Cabaka, and others

Well, we all know Jamaican Music was never about business it was always about making music. 99% of the Jamaican Artists worked for free before money came in to the picture. Therefore, if Europe as a problem with the billing then really sorry to hear that. For example, it was the same thing that happen to Jah Cure and his European promoters who did not pay him to perform at all these concerts. They got in a confrontation and we all know what happen after that Jah Cure got six years in prision. Yes, the Jamaican Artists need to stop letting people take advantage of them and start to do thing for them selves. Now, the idea of the Jamaican Artists start having their own shows is a great idea because it help them learn about the business. Now, the idea about Reggae dying is a myth because 99% of the World Music came from Reggae and Dancehall Music. Therefore, if Reggae dies every body else music will die also. The problem with the world is that they don't give Jamaica any credit or respect for creating the biggest Music Factory in the world so every body can live off it. Now, why the hell Europe don't want to pay the Sound Systems. In fact, they promote the Jamaican Music more than any venues and concerts on the Planet.

Yes, when reggae music was in its pure form everybody was stealing a piece of it. Not anymore. The music has gotten watered down in recent years. No more foundation thing. Just a lot of hurry come ups looking for instant success.
