Their prices are so high that Applebee's and other restaurant chains are now a much better value. Wendy's, Carl's Jr. and Burger King are now much cheaper.

The regular price at MCD is now higher than local joints in most places, and you get a better quality burger. Let's face it. McDonalds are so cheap that it's actually cheaper than cooking at home though less healthy. Cooking at home also takes up your time which should be counted towards the costs of the meal. The only "real" stepdown from McDonalds is the homeless food line, which actually takes up a lot of time for standing in line as well.
