This is SUCH a good tutorial, and you have a beautiful speaking voice. I went through at least 2 other tutorials done by amateurs with annoying voices/speech habits before I arrived here. If anyone is trying to learn and is in doubt about where to go, I highly suggest sticking with this video. Take your time. If you're completely new to editing meshes or textures it might seem a bit overwhelming, but this creator is a godsend. I'm new to blender myself, but this tutorial is very quickly familiarizing me with editing preexisting meshes in it. Excellent.
this is so confusing but also helpful? Probably confusing cuz i tried to immediately go off and try to make the cc that I wanted for a certain sim. so stuck rn. but grateful for the tutorial

Wow! This is decidedly the best, most clearly stated and beautifully documented tutorial I have ever watched. Every step is explained and accompanied by its visual direction, slowly and clearly. I’ve always wondered how this is done, and although I have no intention of ever doing this, (it’s a lot and I’m old, lol) I watched and enjoyed every minute, and learned a lot. Thank you!! ✨
You're an amazing human and a great teacher! I did my first recolor ever yesterday (the blanket fort from the Little Campers kit) but I want to learn as much as I can so I can make cool things. Thank you so much for this tutorial!! ❤
Took me over a year of consistent work with Blender and then coming back to Sims CC tutorials to understand what in the hell is even going on. That being said, I'm excited to try to make some CC and this tutorial is a great overview and lifesaver with the GIMP tutorial!
It took me a long time also. I'm Soo excited I found this, better late than never. I'm doing pretty good with my creations but this definitely helped clear up some issues I was having.
We must protect PowLuna at all costs, because this is so helpful and easier to understand. We need more creators like you who wants to help teach the community on how to make CC content like our favorite creators. Thank you so much PowLuna, you are an angel, and your CC are so cute! 💞🥹 UPDATE: I finished watching the entire video, and I actually feel proud of myself not because I watched an entire tutorial on making CC clothing but because I didn't procrastinate this time and use the "I'll get to it later" excuse. And the dress I did turned out pretty decent, I made a few mistakes which led to the design to have a few cracks but hey beginners don't always get it on the first try, right? I would like to thank you PowLuna for making this tutorial, because without it then I would've probably kept using the "I'll get to it later" excuse without even trying it out. So, thank you so much, now I can stop my procrastinating habits now. 😅

I am stuck on 8:30. i have an issue when opening my mesh file in blender. whenevr i open the mesh file, my model is black. please help me fix this, thank u so much!!
amazing tutorial! I've been doing cc for a while now and I've never found a cc maxis match tutorial like this one. I always have problems with textures and this one worked out, thank you!! Although I have a question...what if I wanted to add patterns or logos using this method? I tried putting it between the different layers and changing the mode but either it is very transparent or it looks strange.
You can use the same technique as explained in the video, but instead of filling the layers with a color, change the mode on the left side to "Pattern fill" (+ Affected Area to Fill whole selection). This requires you to save all your patterns as an "official" pattern into GIMP, but it's worth it, because you now can easily put a pattern on your texture. For logos I would just put them on top of the layers without changing the mode. Hope this helps!
if you had trouble with the error message: "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object." try opening the main sims 4 studio menu again (the one where you opened up browse in-game content.) if this menu is closed, this error will occur. the way i did it is just opening up sims 4 studio again, but you don't have to close the CAS in-game content window because opening sims 4 studio again will have no effect on it. - extra tip(s) - if you want to save a new, separate file for your model (like a game save file) in blender, punch in Ctrl + Alt + S. the use of this is for when you made a mistake with your model and you want to go back to an earlier save, especially when blender's undo history is so short. furthermore, i encountered an issue with deleting vertices on the UV map. if you had trouble too, here's how to fix it: at the bottom of the screen on the UV map window, there is a button with two arrows facing the opposite way from each other. this is called the "UV sync selection", and if it's turned off, the UV vertices will only appear if they are selected in the 3d viewport (where you are viewing the 3d model), i had this turned off and couldn't select specific things like the arms in the UV map.
Hello Powluna, I really love your content! Since you mentioned that you weren’t sure what the Color Shift Mask does and couldn’t find any info, I used AI to gather more details for you. The Color Shift Mask in The Sims 4 is a tool that allows parts of clothing or accessories to dynamically change color based on lighting or effects in-game. It helps creators customize items with more flexibility, without needing multiple versions of the same piece. This should make your creations even more versatile! I’ve been waiting for a modern Sims 4 CC video for so long! Thank you so much! Also, if I wanted to follow this tutorial to create a mesh from scratch in Blender, is there anything I should keep in mind?
Hey thank you! I thought already about making a video to explain how to implement selfmade stuff into Sims 4, but this might take a while. What I can tell you now is that you basically have to mimic an ingame asset as there are a lot of things the blender model needs to work properly in Sims 4. Because I used already existing game assets in this video, all of the data that is needed is already there, so I didn't explain it any further. To give your own meshes all the relevant info you can usually copy all the data of existing assets with the data transfer modifier in Blender. I am not sure how familiar you are with Blender and 3D modelling in general, so it's a bit hard to explain everything in this comment :D
At 16:54 you use the g button, but I don’t understand why I always seems to move the dress around unattached, even when I press on y it seems to just be unattached but only going up and down like an elevator. So my question is how do I make it so it can squish the vertices down like you did?

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I am using Blender 4.1. At 15:45, when I select a vertex, press G, and scroll with the middle mouse wheel, an adjustable circle does not appear. What is that function? Maybe I can find another way to access it?
This is really my first time, and I know I am going to ask some dumb questions. I'm struggling with the normal map section. Any time I copy the red layer and paste it into the alpha layer, I just get a red layer copy above the alpha layer. I have found a way to create a floating layer on google, but then it anchors to the red layer copy instead of the alpha layer. What am I doing wrong?

Please check your Sims 4 Studio settings and see if the path of your game is correct. It has to lead to the folder with the game itself and the game assets
@@constanzarosatto614 I had the same problem. Here`s what helped me: Now, I know it might be risky, but what I did is this: go into the Documents/Sims 4 Studio folder -> open the Settings.xml file -> look for true somewhere at the bottom of the page -> change the "true" to "false" -> restart Sims 4 Studio again. I found this on sims4studio forum.
When I delete the diffuse map and load in my PNG, it doesn't show up on the mesh. I can see it on the left, but my model still looks like a sim body in the shape of the dress. Do you know what common issues might cause this that I could check for? Thanks!
@@powluna Hi! I actually deleted my first try and started over because I think I missed a step. If it happens again on my second try, I can show you on Discord. I really appreciate it!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have found some trouble recently after the directx 11 update, before I would recolor items from other packs (without modifying the meshes, just exporting and importing) and then use a base game item to make them bg compatible, and I never had trouble with it. But now everytime that I try to do it again, when I go to live mode, I see these strange black splotches on my sim, they become bigger when I zoom out. I have been searching for a solution for a while but I can't find anything online, I don't know if it's because I'm also importing the LODs? Could anyone please help me?
I don't know what exactly changed technically, but I think you can solve your problem by exporting the Shadow map and giving the Shadow map a white background, then importing it again. That's an issue I have seen other people have. Otherwise I would need to take a look at the issue myself
@powluna so this video shows you with the mesh you pulled from CASstudio, however after you select the top of it you say “bring in the other mesh” but you only showed the process of exporting the mesh 1 time, I’m trying to clarify that we do the export process 2 times for whichever two CAS items we would like to modify, is that correct?
@@KaamillieCat The first one is the mesh we work with (this one I just open by doubleclicking it) and the other one is the one that I append laterb(I showed that I exported it from S4S before). This results in one new mesh, that I then export to bring into Sims 4 Studio. You are also able to use various different meshes from the game to create something very unique (for example you take the sleeves from asset 1, the neck part from asset 2, some belt from asset 3 and the bottom part from asset 4). I hope this answers your question 😅
@ it does! I just found your videos and subscribed I’ll have to go look through the other ones (I’m also very new to all the lingo thank you so much for your patience!)
How many mesh groups has your asset? And what asset did you use in S4S to create the package file? Those have to have the same amount of cuts, otherwise your import will not show in S4S!
@powluna I fixed my issue by using version 2.70 of blender, but I was using version 3.2.3.0 (star) of S4S, which is strange because yours worked fine in the latest version of blender
I'm 4hs deep. Already have a headache, drank 3 cups of coffee, very nauseous, confused and on the verge of tears. Maybe I'm not meant to lead the cc creator life
Don't come to this conclusion! It takes a lot of patience and time to learn new things, maybe you have to start again. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Mac version, but the steps have to be very similar, maybe check out the Sims 4 Studio forum to get more information (:

When I delete the diffuse map and load in my PNG, it doesn't show up on the mesh. I can see it on the left, but my model still looks like a sim body in the shape of the dress. Do you know what common issues might cause this that I could check for? Thanks!
Hmm, I can't imagine anything at this point. Do you have Discord or insta where you can send me a picture of the issue?

Thank you for the quick answer!! It worked :D thank you so much!!! You're a lifesaver
I tried downloading the mesh but it kept saying I didn't put the blender code thingie in no matter what I tried
On what device are you working?
just to be clear, you added 2 CAS meshes together so repeat the process for importing twice?
I am sorry, but I don't understand the question 😅
When I make the texture in PS, upload the image in Blender, the texture comes out a pink color
Could be various things that went wrong there, but it's hard to tell without seeing it myself! Can you contact me on Discord?
i've saved the mesh, but everytime i go to import mesh on s4 studio, it won't show up :(
How many mesh groups has your asset? And what asset did you use in S4S to create the package file? Those have to have the same amount of cuts, otherwise your import will not show in S4S!
i exported the mesh but the file is just nothing but lamps :(
Never heard of this issue before :/ Could maybe be an incompatible S4S and Blender version? Which versions are you using?
@powluna I fixed my issue by using version 2.70 of blender, but I was using version 3.2.3.0 (star) of S4S, which is strange because yours worked fine in the latest version of blender
Thanks this tutorial really informative
mine doesn’t say anything in the blender path
Seems like you didn't properly install Blender!

@@powluna ty i tried my best but its 5X harder cs my mouse broke but im buying a new one and definitly trying again! the steps r very similar and you did an amazing job in this tutorial the only thing that kept me from not quiting was how easy u made it and how clear u make the steps ur the best 🩷🩷🩷
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍😍😍
will this work on mac? i really wanna make some cc bc most of the stuff out there isnt my style & im an artist so it would be easier for me to make my own stuff but i suck at operating anything other than a phone 🥲
It should work on Mac, but things might be a bit different. You can check the Sims 4 Studio description to help you figure things out sims4studio.com/thread/29785/sims-studio-aurora-open-beta
im getting an error that the sims4studio needs to be updated :( it won't let me open the program on my Mac
Did you check if you're using the latest version? Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Mac so maybe you have to get help from the official Sims4Studio forums!
