    The fact that 2 wires can run all those LEDs in that combination signal is impressive.

      Hi, do remember to size your wires according to power consumption. But yes, LEDs do not use a lot of power, and they last a lot longer. Enjoy ;-) Bo

    Hi Very nice tutorial. What Märklin says is: some signals have 2 positions and therefore uses only ONE digital address, some signals have 3 or 4 positions and so they use, the digital address you have freely selected AND the following one (so be careful NOT to assign it to another item (signal, switch, etc).
    In your example, the foresignal replicates the position of the signal it warns NOT because of a particular address (it uses NONE) but because it is plugged to the following (main) signal decoder, The 3 position signal uses 2 digital addresses and it is up to the user to turn it to green/yellow when the following signal is red (some processing may even be required if the is a switch in-between and 2 or more main signals).

      Hi John, Indeed you are right - always great with additional information. Talking about the modern light signals: Some signals have multiple addresses and the light distant signals do not have any address as they are plugged in. However, older signals or semaphore distant signal are different. You can see more in Beginner episodes 5a-5f in the following playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLYAhs-Pox3sG31NwCfqIuk6IvI19q2czn.html
      Hope you are having fun with the signals - enjoy ;-)

    Nice video.As i understand it's easier to program with a CS 3 than a Mobile station,

      @ModelTrainFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely. I like the CS3 as it generally is much easier to use. However, it is a big investment. I will be doing a video on "Getting started with CS3" soon. Stay tuned & enjoy the hobby ;-)

    Hi, nice video. Do you know how should I program the main signal(76493) into the Mobile station in the same way you programmed those signals into it? What DIP switches, for example, should I use?

    • @vljt8960
      @vljt8960 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Now that I tried programming and set the address to 27, the signal decoder does click when I press the red/green buttons, but nothing happens with the signal. The signal just shows all of its tree aspects(Hp0,hp1 and Hp2) at the same time.

      @@ModelTrainFun No I didn’t. I took the signal to the local model railway shop and I’m now waiting if they could make it work.

    Can I use this signal for K track. I have a ECU controller.

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Markus,
      Yes, you can use the signal for K-track as well. If you look at page 38 of the manual, you can see how to remove the C-track base and how to add the K-track base to the signal: static.maerklin.de/damcontent/5d/9e/5d9ec6d8d6b3f57d1c3dc40f2d6f0dbf1591098910.pdf
      Not sure what an ECU controller is? Are you talking about the ECOS from ESU? If so, then yes you should also be able to use the signal with this one. The signal supports MM and DCC as well.
      Enjoy ;-)

    Will it be the same prosess for CE2?I mean can the cv be changed as on mobile station 2?

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure what CE2 is? You can program CV values using the MS2. If the device supports DCC it is easiest to change to DCC mode to program it. You can see an example of changing CV values in DCC mode in the following video: th-cam.com/video/i4-Mvb6BuoE/w-d-xo.html
      Did that help? Not sure I answered your question. Enjoy ;-)

    Hej, Kan man ikke bare bruge de billigere signaler fra maerklin ( 74391, 74380, 74371) uden decoder, og så bare styre dem via m84, eller har jeg overset noget? De koster jo "kun" 200 kr hvorimod de andre med dekoder koster over 600 kr.

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jo - man kan også brug "dumb" signals med m84. Desværre er der ikke så mange muligheder med Märklin dumb signals - see video med signal oversigt. Jeg vil typisk foreslå at bruge lyssignaler fra andre producenter med m84 og bruge "Semaphore Signales" (dansk ord?) fra Märklin. Jeg kigger på at lave en video med m84 og lyssignaler.
      Yes - you can use dumb signals with the m84. However, unfortunately there is not as many signalling posibilities with the Märklin dumb signals - see the video with the signals overview below. I would suggest to consider dumb signals from other manufactors and use the semaphore signals from Märklin. I am looking into an upcoming video on m84 with light signals.

    Hello. I found your video quite helpful. Thank you. I have a fairly large existing layout ( I have youtube channel "strafrag1" if you care to see it). I have several 764.. series signals already installed. I have just purchased my first 76496 with distant signal attached. I use the the CS3 with all updates installed plus 2x mobile stations attached to it. I have also chosen an entry signal 76493 for the distant signal to be attched to, further down the line. My ? is this? Do I have to remove the two signals from the layout and use a test track to install them as you show in your video here, or can I do it somehow with them on the layout? Have you ever contacted Maerklin about this issue? Thanks, Peter.

    • @ModelTrainFun
      @ModelTrainFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi strafrag1, looks like a nice layout you have. When you have the CS3 you can add MFX signals to the CS3 when it is on the layout. You can set the address and discover with "keep the address" or give it a blank Märklin Motorola/blank DCC address, then have the CS3 discover the signal with "git it a new address". You can also program the signal on the layout using MFX. You will only need a test track if you need to program using DCC. Hope this helps and good luck with your channel. Enjoy ;-)
