Mostly, religious people do not like or drink beverages with alcohol in Europe and the USA. They know it is bad. It has become a big part of the economy and can't be banned. Back then, people used to call it a man's drink.

I’m a European. Even Christmas drinks which are distributed at Churches are alcoholic. For example Gløgg in Denmark.
All the Christmas dinners which start in mid October and end before Christmas eve, a range of alcoholic drinks is served.
Alcohol is not limited to hard liquor. From jägermeister to 7 percent red wine to just 4 percent beer, everything contains alcohol and everybody drinks them at one occasion or the other if not in routine.
