It doesn't have to be Pfaff though. Brother, Juki, Toyota , Mitsubishi of this age are very popular and apart from a few differences, the new ones are the same, just usually in white. I have a Brother 755 which was a very popular model for factories, and many are ex clothing factory machines. Parts are all generic and many fit multiple makes. Some machines are 'badged' ie licenced by one of the big makes bit manufactured by others, Consew for example are usually Toyota. Stay away from machines that have UBT (under bed trimmers) which cut the thread and usually syncro which makes it stop with the needle down, going up when you heel back to cut thread, as these can be 3 phase, won't work on domestic power supply. Most are with a basic clutch motor. I recommend Brother 755/714 Juki DDL, Toyota LS2/Mitsubishi LS2 or Singer 191/291/391/491. Hundreds of different sewing feet fit all makes, and a buttonhole attachment is available (YS Star 4455) :-)
Bonjour Vos vidéos sont super, par contre je souhaiterais mettre de l'huile dans ma machine, comment faisons nous? Je vous remercie de me répondre au plus tôt si vous pouvez.
Oiling this machine: There should be a round window on the front with a hole in it. If you go to 9 seconds in the video you will see it on the bottom right of the machine.
Huile de cette machine: il devrait y avoir une fenêtre ronde sur le devant avec un trou dans elle. Si vous passez à 9 secondes dans la vidéo, vous la verrez en bas à droite de la machine.
Hi, I have the same machine, but I have some problems sewing leather and neoprene, I know that for neoprene is elastic fabric.... could you tell me please what size of needle are you using, hope you can help me, I will appreciate it. thanks
In leather, it is best to use a 14/22, and depending on the type of leather, a sharp point or a tri point. Plus you will have to increase the tension quite a bit to pull it up. Thick leather you have to go slow, this machine does not have alot of tolerance for needle deflection. Leather grain is not consistent, so if you go too fast, the needle will follow the grain and deflect from its intended path. Hard to sew neoprene on this machine, really need a walking foot for that, and also a Teflon coated needle.
MooseTrading hey, Can you help me with something, I have a question, do you have the foot for zipper or 1 link, I bought one foot for invisible zipper but I think is not the right one. could you send me a link please. :)
There isn't a link. I just made a custom zipper foot for another customer of mine. Visit my website and fill out a contact form. I will send you over a quote. www.moosetrading.com/contact-us
This machine wont do 5mm in leather. In a hard thick leather, this machine will have too much needle deflection. You would have to upgrade to a walking foot machine. Please visit our website, or give us a call, we have that type of machine in stock.
MooseTrading Thnx, but...i`m from Romania(Europe) and the shipping will kill me.:) Anyway, i will buy a 1245, but you may recommand me a good one for leather. Thnx again!
I would love to hear the machine instead of the music.
Yes some people think they’re a DJ

what are your tension settings for sewing leather
I know this thing is long gone, but what a "moose" of a machine! Lordy!!! Drooling. How much does something like this cost?
You can pick these up for about £100, usually come with basic clutch motor. The 463 is quite an old machine, built around 40 years ago.

Could this machine sew horse blankets? I know it's sold :)
No, it won't sew that thick, it will just skip stitches. You need a walking foot machine such as the consew 226
Thank you very much. She's doing repairs on her own blankets, I thought it might cut the mustard for her. Cheers for the advice.
