I love mine. I have worn mine for years. I do not like the wire brim (I constantly have to reshape it), and for this reason I will be purchasing a hat with a brim that is fixed.
Well, that was why I was purchasing it because I wanted to shape mine, but I can see where that could be a problem. Now you've got me in mixed decision. I have a few hats that are shaped the way I want, but when they get crushed during trips it's hard to get them back and I was thinking the wire would actually be useful in that situation.
@MrFordguy73 Every time I would hike through the jungles, my hat would be bent to heck and back. Also, eventually the wire broke. If you wear your hat enough, it should keep a form if you are persistent enough. Have you tried steaming it into the shape you want? Also, if your hat is not waterproof (mine is), you can heat beeswax into liquid and treat your hat. If any wax residual is left over, just take a blow dryer to it and rerub it into the hat. In case you are wondering, I bought a Dorfman Pacific hat.
@@shawnstatzer95Well, I was looking at a used one, that may deter me because I don't know if the wire brim is broke, I just wear my summer hat, and it goes with me on the trail, and the swimming pool, and sometimes it'll get crushed, and I was thinking this would be reshapable, but you have some valid points. I have a good offer on one from eBay right now, but now I'm questioning. Thanks for the insight.
@MrFordguy73 Wire brom hats are fine for traveling in places where you will not bump it, but if in places with a bunch of ledges, overhanging, and brush, I am sure that you would regret it. Sure, you go in looking cool, but at the end of the journey, you come out having to straighten all the wire. I found myself constantly straightening it. Buying my Dorfman Pacific was a great decision. Eight years later, I am still very happy with it. I bought five more. I also bought a Panama hat. But you must treat these with caution.
