  • Welcome to Sunshine Swim Center. Here at Sunshine, we believe in instructor education, water safety and creating a love for swimming in all of our classes. This is an overview of one of our Sea Star Level Skills.
Our Sea Star level is a beginning level; for 3-6 year old swimmers with a ratio of 3 swimmers to one instructor.
Streamline Kicks with a Body Roll to a Backfloat
A body roll to a backfloat teaches swimmers how to get to their back so they can breathe while swimming further distances. When teaching a body roll to a backfloat, you want to isolate the skill first and have them practice rolling to their back from a front float before doing it with kicking and arm circles. Explain to the swimmers that they want to stay "flat like a pancake" when they roll from their stomach to their back by keeping their head back, and pushing their bellies up. Once the swimmer has mastered the body roll to a backfloat on their own, move on to adding in streamline kicks out to you.
Thank you for joining us. For more swim tips and skills- Read the comment section for details and subscribe to our TH-cam channel.
