you are walking about snow and ice and than you see a clear dark blue peace of ice. I'm jalous. I'm too old to this and now i enjoy with your film/foto. Thanks
Nice video, sledge looks heavy. What did you use on the wood runners? It looks like sheet metal? Did it slide well? If you did it again what would you do different? Any advice for someone else considering similar travel on a large lake? Thanks for sharing, good job!
Quite shocked that you had dual crampon failures. Considering these things are designed for climbing I have to wonder if you picked up some fakes? Did you speak to Grivel about them? I traversed Baikal in '14. Was fantastic and can't wait to go back. Great video :)
I actually think it was the boot soles that were too flexible and not suitable for crampon use that caused the failure. I struggled to buy decent boots in size 12 on my budget! Also i had to mix the original Grivel crampons with a pair of similar non branded crampons that belonged to a kind shop owner in Beijing because i couldn't find any big enough.

It is not realy safe to walk on the ice during March ! I prefer January and February for walk on the freezen lake of Baikal
