Great video...for 9 years ago. Its now 2024 and yall need to update the video to cover the late model trucks, which now have 6 aux switches as well as additional pass-through wires that go into the cab. Also, the website link doesn't take you to the Ram Engineering website, it just takes you to the Ram trucks website, which is useless for getting help with the wiring of these switches.
A wiring diagram would really help with options, like what is the max amp rating? What can they run, do I need to wire a relay off the A/S output to run x amps and up? etc etc etc
Thanks for the video!! It was very helpful first time hooking into aux switches!! Have sent video to a couple friends just for a quick review as they was ready for some installs . Thanks again !!
@ 3.23 pull the connector of "Like so" . What exactly is like so, how does the connector release? Special tool? Magic words don't work, as I've tried a few... Thanks for your help.
Great video! I got a 2014 3500 MegaCab, 6speed manual that I Love! Is there a way to keep the engine brake left on so I don't have to turn it on every time I start the truck? Thank you.
2024 Ram 5500 I need to power a Golight spot light, the light came w/ a 12v plug (lighter plug) in the engine bay which upfitter switch/auxiliary port do I plug into 1,2,3 or 4… thank you
Hi, I'd like to connect two Code 3 interior LED light bars to the auxiliary switches. These would normally run off the 12V cigarette outlets, so do I need to just cut the cigarette plug end off and feed one lead to the switch and one to ground? Thanks for any help!
This is absolutely great. Wish it would come standard on all RAMs, like my 2014 1500 Laramie. There's a big demand for aftermarket parts and with something like this, it would be much easier and convenient to pimp the truck with new components.
I bought my truck used and the original owner doesn’t have the bag of wires anymore. Does anyone know where I can buy the bag of wires? My truck is 2015 Ram 2500 and has the AUX switches installed from factory.
on this video there is what you call a gray rear power connector that was said to be behind the the dash. I want to connect a ham radio in the cab and was looking for a 12 volt power source that is not on an auxiliary switch. can this be done with the gray connector and witch wire would i use ?
When hooking up my travel trailer with lithium ion batteries Will the 7 pin connector and alternator handle the load or is there additional parts I need to install? I presentally have the wire in the RV disconnected.
Thanks for the video, I just had a question regarding the grey rear power connector. I have a 2014 2500 Cummins with the aux switches; I am hooking up rear led lights and want to wire them to aux switch #2. Does said connector allow me to hook up the lights without running wiring all the way to the Underwood relay and still use the aux switch, or do I have to just run wiring all the way to the relay? If I can use the connector where do I connect it? Thanks!
So is it safe to wire Air Horn or Fog Lights to the Up-Fitters switches directly or does the Up-Fitter Switches need to power a relay switch to turn power on/off on devices? Assuming they are under the 10 amp max.
I have 2020 RAM 4500 and we are installing Altec AT200 bucket Boom on it. We have problem to how On/OFF engine by using Boom remote control. Could you please guide us.
I have a 2015 1500 lonestar and want to add a second battery for accessories like my winch and lighting. Can you tell me if I add a second battery where my air filter is will the second battery cause my computer to malfunction?
I wasted time and money by taking it to a Ram dealer who said they couldn’t program it. Even called RAM cust Serv for help and got a case number, said they would call me back in a couple of days with the solution! Wish I would have found this video first!!! Now if I could only find the dead rodent somewhere in the truck stinking it up to high heaven ! :-)
I have a 2018 dodge 2500 diesel, the map navigation is not on, the dealer told me that I can only use (pay pal) on my I phone. Is there a after market map navigation ?
There is a ton of conflicting information online.. can someone that's somewhat 'Ram Savvy' reply and let me, and others, know whether these aux switches can be added to a truck (2014 1500 Tradesman) that does NOT have the switches from the factory?? I'd like to add the switches!
From my understanding (and I will be doing this soon) is that if you purchase the auxiliary switch panel AND the upfitting wire kit (~$50) it should be plug and play. Disconnect your battery, install the switch panel and connecting wires from the wire kit into the factory harness, re-connect your battery, and program using the user interface on the dash.
I made a video on my channel about using this. It's very simple for the most. I don't go into great detail but I do show everything needed to do to make pin 1 work. It's the pink with a white stripe wire. The video will be up tonight
8/26/2018 My 2013 RAM 2500 6.7L Auto Commercial Reg Cab 8' Bed does have the Aux Switch Panel. But no "Commercial" tab in on-screen menu ??????? Have five sets of lights attempting hookup. HELP !!!
Not true at all... They may not want to or want the customer to do it on their own... however, you can go here to get the full kit: www.4thgenramelectronics.com/product-page/2013-2018-ram-auxiliary-button-kit
New POWER WAGON BUYERS BEWARE!!! I thought I ordered this "Auxiliary Switches and Upfitter Wiring" on my Power Wagon. The description of the Upfitter VSIM was limited and sounded like I was ordering this, but it is not. Also, they do not wire in the VSIM, you get wire harnesses to do it yourself and I have no aptitude for wiring, which is why I wanted the "Auxiliary Switches and Upfitter Wiring". For me the VSIM is useless because I cannot hook it up. I am just happy I did not order $2000 dollars' worth of lights. I really wanted this, I know it was my mistake, but it stings.
if you go to the ram body builder site they have the upfitter wiring info. on mine a 2015 ram 2500 mega cab Aux1 40A Aux2 40A Aux3 25A Aux4 25A Aux5 20A

I find it awesome that you have gone this far to satisfy your customers. Don't quit!!

I second this. Very frustrating
It's close enough to get you started. So now there are two more so you add 2 more wires. EASY!
A wiring diagram would really help with options, like what is the max amp rating? What can they run, do I need to wire a relay off the A/S output to run x amps and up? etc etc etc

So could use these switches to power led off road lights?
Lawm Vaj
I assume that’s a yes
Yes you can. I run my plow lights on one of them, my roof mounted LED warning light bar on another, and my auxillary reverse lights on another one.
what are the color codes for the uplifter switches?

Can I just get a simple answer on how to connect Auxiliary switch to a light on the rear of the truck?
Exactly this. Why are directions impossible to find. Can you send me somewhere that helps?
If you can't understand this your shouldn't attempt your project
Do you know if a 2011 Dodge Ram regular cab is the tailgate wired so when you lock the door so does the tailgate?
How do I remove the pigtail wires from the connector if I put it in the wrong spot?
Why can't I find anything about relays for using the pre-wire for 2015+ snow plow lighting???
K no no
