    Nice one Jimmy! First of all, your video editing on that one was super! Best yet! Double ‘Boom Up’!! 👍👍
    I’m surprised with all the forklifts they had around that site they couldn’t have used a cpl to lift that thing. Oh well 🤷‍♂️. It’s their money. If the Chiefs are looking for a new punter they might give that guy w/the orange hard hat a call 😆. He sent that hard hat for a ride at 6:48!! Loved the overhead camera angle w/the nitrous boost! Fun to watch! 👍👍

    well, that got my inner Prudence (the Safety Goat) woken up.... All the really good accidents happen when the stars align and all the wickets are open, and this crew wasn't thinking about either. You start with any 2-wheel assembly -- a roll hazard even on the best days -- skip the chocks since you have to move it back & forth (with MHE, no less,) then hang a massive weight over it. _...but that's not all!_
    When you give said 2-wheel assembly a massive pivot pin on its axle, well, that's the cherry on the sundae.
    Until you stabilize the pivot pin by tying a nylon strap to it from the fork lift. _But wait, there's more!_
    The strap is removable only when the massive weight is partially lowered over the massive pin, and one of the crew has to climb up between the 2-wheel assembly and the suspended, bone-crushing weight to untie it.
    It's no wonder you edited the part where they removed the strap.
    It's probably a blessing we didn't see how they got the strap off. I have a feeling the knot was too tight, so they first tried using their teeth to get it loose. Fortunately, after a while, their buddy *ran* over with *scissors* to cut it lose.

    When I saw the guy beating that steel with the sledge hammer and heard the bang I knew that something was going down, they need a debrief after this I think, as to the traffic problem don't they know it is faster in those situations to use the zipper method than do what they did, good on you for the tactics employed Jimmy cheers NZ. barry hansen, I was shocked when the piece went over. There wasn't anything I could do though. I couldn't lower the machine to "catch" the piece, because the machine was on stands. I'm just glad he wasn't injured. In traffic, I sometimes just have to push my way around. The Tadano doesn't accelerate fast enough to jump into traffic. So, I just have to make things happen. Glad you are gaining ground on the fence. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    There's a couple things wrong with this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the videos being a crane operator myself. BUT that being said, why did you hook on man let that guy, or for that matter why did anybody let him stay there under a load like that? And that shackle isn't the right size for that roundsling. You need a wide body. You could've used that shackle for hooking up, and put a wide body bow up. Just some things I noticed.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ron, Pemberton, As soon as we raised the machine into position, there were adjustable jack stands put into place. The machine could not go to the ground. So, he was in no danger of being under a suspended load. The shackle is a 2 1/2 inch shackle. The sling isn't bunched up inside the shackle and the pin diameter is adequate for an orange round sling. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

Running 70 down express way in the left for people getting on then and they get on and come all the way over and forget about the skinny so i have to mash the fat one. I guess that's a "where you are" type of thing. Out here on the west coast the BMW drivers are by far the rudest and worst drivers. You pretty much have to use the same driving tactics here that Jimmy used even if you are in a standard car. Signal, then when they group up to make sure there isn't room to get into "their" lane, just do it anyway and ignore them pissing on their horns. Either that or you will be sitting at a dead stop in the blocked lane until someone texting rear ends you.

      Robert Bradford, I am surprised at how little respect some drivers have for the size of the crane. Some people just act like it's just like any other vehicle they encounter. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    Great videos. Thanks for sharing. How much horsepower in the chassis of the crane in this video? And how much horsepower does the upper usually have in a crane of this capacity?

      Thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I love big equipment but never worked around this type of machine. Have searched TH-cam for other crane videos but nothing shows as much as your channel shows. Lifting videos can get boring but the crane setup videos I find very interesting.

    What do you do for maintenance on the Crane?. Do you know who Ron Pratt is?

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Android Man, we follow the manufacturer specs for maintenance. It varies from greasing the boom, to changing oil. There is definitely maintenance involved with a machine this size. I do know who Ron Pratt is. I am lucky enough to be able to call him a friend. I have never met him in person. But, we message eachother on occasion. He has a great channel. Many thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    One crane operator to another...I don't get how you would let somebody stand under the load and you should never put your sling on the pin of the shackle where it can spin that pin in either direction. I don't want to assume but I assume this is non union. We're taught way different than that.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The machine had stands placed under it after it was lifted. Also, shackle pins are to be placed towards the hook unless the piece being hoisted does not permit that orientation. When connecting shackle to shackle, the shackles should be connected "bow to bow" when possible. If not possible then "pin to bow" is permitted. IUOE local 101.

    That makes me a little upset watching how that crew handled that. OSHA is such a huge PITA as you know but situations like that are why we all have to have some of the stupid rules we have. Some jobs are just dangerous but with common sense you can come out safely. Some jobs are filled with people without a clue. I wonder how many accidents that crew has had. Love the drive footage and hate it when people have no road manners.

      Dall Tex, there are definitely some stupid rules out there. There are times when things just don't work the way they were anticipated. I'm guessing next time the people in those cars see a big truck or machine trying to get over, they will get out of the way. Lol. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

      A couple of good sayings "might is right" comes from my years sailing - a sailing vessel has right of way over almost any other vessel most of the time, but if they're bigger than you "might" why not let them past anyway.
      The other is an underground mining saying over here in Australia "the biggest tyres have right of way"
      Then my grandfather always said "there's plenty of people 6' under who had the right of way"

    I do apologize for telling another man how to do his job especially another union brother. But I'm not buying the jackstand excuse when you say you have 20 ton on the hook. I get the "we'll probably be ok" but Im not trusting jack stands to catch 40,000 lbs. There are defently all different rigging set ups but I have to disagree with this one.

    • @ToTheTopCrane
      @ToTheTopCrane  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They weren't just any old jackstands. Definitely not the recalled harbor freight jack stands. Lol. They were 80 ton stands to be exact. We can agree to disagree on the rigging. Which is ok. That's why I tell people on here that there is/are different ways of doing things. Given the continuous sling being used, centered on the hook, without any possibility of it rolling, I was perfectly fine with how it was rigged. Had it been a basket hitch, off center or with a rolling pick, I would've had them rig it accordingly. But, in this case, there was absolutely no way for the pin to turn. Also, no need to apologize. I do take constructive criticism and advice. 🙂
