Ghouls tend to be pretty resistant to drugs, in Fallout 3 you find a ghoul chemist making "Ultra Jet" as ordinary "Jet" doesn't do much for ghouls ("Jet" is like meth' and a very common drug in the Wasteland, it's the inhaler the raider used in episode #1, often used as combat drug but extremely addictive to Humans) Ghouls like mental stimulus to keep going and so reduce risks of going feral, so Cooper using drugs makes sense, also in the games there are perks that boost the effect of drugs and even make you immune to addiction!
@nguyenmanhcuong5710 You do realize that that phrase only means something when the script is contradictive... like General Hux being the spy. Snip Snip gave her a finger because he's programmed to be a medical bot. That original programming is still in place while given a new one to harvest organs. It doesn't understand how it's illogical that is.
There's a lot of that in fallout lore. Robots are programmed for one thing originally but survivors tamper with them creating conflicting programs. Been a long while since I played but I seem to remember one robot cheerily greeting the player while trying to kill them. Either it was base game or a mod but since it has been so long I don't remember.
Also, they make multiple references in the various scenes with Snip-Snip that he's not functioning properly, starting right outta the gate with his inability to gauge time right, his glitchy voice, etc. That's one of those things in the show where, if you know the lore, you get a fun little moment of recognition but, if you don't, you can still understand that this is a glitchy robot doing illogical things because it's glitchy. Also also, somebody made a good point in another comment elsewhere: If they're not just selling organs but also *parts*, a full hand would probably sell for more than a hand missing a finger (or a finger missing a hand). So... maybe not so illogical after all.
My understanding why the robot gave Lucy a new finger was that originally, the robot was a medical robot programmed to help people but he was hacked to harvest organs so his first priory is to help you then follow his second programming to harvest your organs.

True I don't remember anything of those vials from in the games but that could be due to the games not deep diving into the ghouls perspective (other than a quest here and there). This actually makes a lot of sense in some ways but breaks a few others. Such as the quest "Kid in a fridge" where the ghoul boy is not feral despite being trapped for hundreds of years. Almost as if not all ghouls will become feral due to some genetic or environmental effect but if they start these vials maybe prevent it from continuing.
I was puzzled that The Ghoul coughs when he doesn't get the vials and then gets weak and collapses but doesn't act feral. It seemed like a mistake until I watched the theory video. My guess is it's cough syrup and he's dependent on it now. Someone also pointed out that Roger had a bunch of vials at his feet suggesting he'd felt himself changing and used up the last of what he had or could find trying to stop it but it didn't help.
@@stingerjohnny9951my theory is a little different. I think it's a chem developed on the West coast, perhaps as a scam. This chem is addictive, and the withdrawal triggers a ghoul to go feral. This maintains all previously established lore
No the finger thing makes perfect sense when you remember the robots havent had proper maintenance in 200 years. Almost all of rhem are malfunctioning to some degree with a lot of them being full on homicidal.
The med robot Snip-Snip has had extra programming so it still offers aid but does the slavers' bidding. And keeping slaves intact, free of infection, and able to work is good for business
In Fallout 4 there is a Pacify/Intimidation perk that seems to be exactly what Cooper is using on Lucy. If you are a higher level than an NPC you can gain a chance to pacify them with your weapon drawn, at max level the perk lets you order around your hostage like they are a companion as long as you have your weapon out. I've used it on random raiders and sent them into areas with minefields to clear out other raiders. In a fantasy setting this would be some kind of magic or brainwashing/posession, but in Fallout you just hold someone hostage lol.
If you think of the row of ghouls as a display case, Lucy getting fixed up before snip snip was ordered to harvest her immediately makes sense even without the tendency of pre-war robots to be partially following old programming from the games for context. After all, she really is 'near mint' for the wasteland.
I just noticed the me handy said it was a general atomics, but if I thought correctly the Mr handy was made by RobCo. And general atomics made robo brains.

the ghoul didn't want to be the one to "force" her to drink it. he wanted her to surrender and accept the wasteland and drink it for her self of her own choice
I don't understand why people think the ghoul has any good intentions. He's just sadistic. He wasn't trying to be kind to Lucy by not giving her the water, he was just being mean. "When people show you who they are, believe them".
In the first episode of the next season if The Ghoul eats a live baby.... Pudgey: He was just trying to spare it the harsh life of the wasteland so he must be a nice guy!
Looks like the Ghoul (Cooper) had the Cannibal Perk which is part of the games where you can eat like that to heal. It is pretty gross in the game too, but more likely something that would happen in the Apocalypse.
Cooper Howard's wife is frozen in Vault 31 as she is one of Bud's Buds. The fate of his daughter is still a mystery because Cooper asked where is his "family" in the last episode. My guess is she is somehow with her mother. This will no doubt be explained in a flashback. I can see the end of this series in a tearful reunion. The thing about the Fallout Franchise is it poses moral quandaries, difficult decisions. There are quirky situations and comedy interlaced, but the appeal to me lies in having to make very difficult ethical decisions. In that respect this series is very much in line with the game lore. In game I can pause and take my time to decide what I want to do. When I played Fallout 4 I would sometimes take a week or more to decide. What I like about the game is that it recognizes that the choices we are given are not always between good and bad, but more often between bad and worse. The writers have obviously picked up on this.
@@PROVOCATEURSK right? I like Ella shes drop dead gorgeous but a single character from a cancerous game like League of legends really doesnt convey anything to me
If you want to see the actor who plays Cooper do other things, watch Justified. His character stole the show but wasn’t the lead. He’s perfect for the role of The Ghoul.
Who ever directed the first 4 episodes needs to do the entire season 2. I feel like there is a noticeable drop off after episode 4. The rest of the season is still good but these first 4 episodes were a chef's kiss!
The strangling pose could just be a case of one of the two being injured by say, a bullet wound, prior to starting all the strangling, and then killing the other dude before passing out and dying too.
At worst, I think its just a nod to the game's and how they place skeletons in random positions that wouldn't exactly work if they truly died there. Same thing with the family that took the poison to off themselves.
I think Lucy killing someone in a last ditch effort to protect herself is much different than The Ghoul. I mean, he just ran up on Filly and killed like 8 people lol The Ghoul is a badass tho.
18:51 the Fallout universe is littered with skeletons in weird poses. It helps tell the story of what happened at a particular location. Just accept that it is a thing in this show and don’t worry too much about it.
I can see newer fans gravitating toward Cooper Howard as the most compelling character. In the games, you meet several interesting ghouls at various points out in the wasteland who have been alive since before the bombs fell, although they are indeed rare. I'd actually rather see the life of a ghoul named Raul Tejada from Fallout: New Vegas instead of Cooper Howard. But Coop's story is very important to the main narrative; so we kind of need his too. My favorite character is Maximus. A child who was orphaned by trauma early on, only to be "raised" by the Brotherhood (a militant cult) in the insanity of the New California Wasteland. The writers/producers have done a good job showcasing how a resilient trauma victim is coping with the wasteland. His decisions are made with more than simple logic. He might have a personality disorder or other mental health difficulties that are affecting his judgement. IRL a person who has his history isn't usually well adjusted without support from others.
Is the line from betty actually "pee on the wall" or "tee on the ball?" I heard tee on the ball, and it makes way more sense (considering a retro-future america that idolized the 50's -- baseball slang was way more common).
Where in tf did you see any "deep down humanity" in that ghoul LMAO !! He's my favorite character too but come on now, he hasn't done a single f*cking thing that is redeeming yet 😂

Lucy suffered a lot but still doesn't let go of her humanity by giving him the drugs when she could have easily gotten revenge for all he did to her whereas the ghoul lost his humanity long ago which is why he's disgusted at the end seeing his old self before he lost himself in the wasteland

He's teaching Lucy that you have to forget the vault ways of thinking in order to survive on the surface
Towards the end of the discussion i like how the 2 heads coming together is making some good leaps
Lucy and the Ghoul are some of the best written characters I've seen in years, if not a decade.
This made me play the game and now I'm addicted.
Im playing too it’s so much fun
that was the goal lol. You got tricked into supporting a bad company 🤣 Tbh this is probably just predictive programming. Making the "nuked" game and show mainstream af before they actually send nukes IRL

9:48 That was %100 Spartan's suggestion. Dat idea sniping!
the water in his canteen would most likely have been dirty water just like that puddle water, so there would be no difference between the bottle and the pan
the ghoul didn't want to be the one to "force" her to drink it. he wanted her to surrender and accept the wasteland and drink it for her self of her own choice
It's also a refernce to "Good, Bad and Ugly" if I'm correct.
Remember when filming the movie, Coop/The Ghoul ,asked during the other episode if he needed to shoot him.. Now we found out he followed the script.
I don't understand why people think the ghoul has any good intentions. He's just sadistic. He wasn't trying to be kind to Lucy by not giving her the water, he was just being mean.
"When people show you who they are, believe them".
The lady who plays Lucy also stars in a show called Yellowjackets. Seeing her cringe at the idea of cannibalism is hilarious if youve seen that show.
The ghoul wants to trade Lucy in for meds to keep alive and from changing into a feral ghoul in this episode
That was Lucy's first kill... Hence the "mother effer' comment No more okey dokey
In the first episode of the next season if The Ghoul eats a live baby....
Pudgey: He was just trying to spare it the harsh life of the wasteland so he must be a nice guy!
Pudgey: The Ghoul is my favorite charactaur.
Me: Okie Dokie *proceeds to watch video*
😂😂😂
Looks like the Ghoul (Cooper) had the Cannibal Perk which is part of the games where you can eat like that to heal. It is pretty gross in the game too, but more likely something that would happen in the Apocalypse.
Hospitals are always dangerous places in Fallout. They are usually populated by ghouls, Super mutants or raiders. Tread carefully.
I'd say the killing of Roger was done as a mercy killing, but since he was now dead, waste not - want not.
First-time watchers: "Lucy and the Ghoul are going to become friends!"
Me, having seen the whole show: "Oh, you sweet summer child."
I mean… they’re well on their way
Cooper Howard's wife is frozen in Vault 31 as she is one of Bud's Buds.
24:14 In the game you can only loot boxes, you can't take them.
I just finished your reaction to episode 3 so this is perfect timing!
I love Lucy and the Ghoul. Atomic Queen and Radiation King
Lucy is played by Ella Purnell, who voices Jinx in Arcane!
People keep spamming it like people would know about this kid´s show.
@@PROVOCATEURSK right? I like Ella shes drop dead gorgeous but a single character from a cancerous game like League of legends really doesnt convey anything to me
@@PROVOCATEURSKlol _definitely_ not a show for kids
I wish I had a dollar for every time I see this "fun fact". I could probably retire early.
If you want to see the actor who plays Cooper do other things, watch Justified. His character stole the show but wasn’t the lead. He’s perfect for the role of The Ghoul.
If rewatch episode 1, the medical bot is in the home of the rich folks where Cooper is entertaining for the birthday party.
Who ever directed the first 4 episodes needs to do the entire season 2. I feel like there is a noticeable drop off after episode 4. The rest of the season is still good but these first 4 episodes were a chef's kiss!
Light Check All 9 lights are there
daaamn, Pudgey been getting SPICY with the language lately!! Love it! 😝🤘🔥
So nice seeing handsome man and random waman reacting to this show! I absolutely loved you reactions to GoT and HOTD
You get more money for complete body parts ( hand.)
I mean he didn't kill the chicken ... 🤷
He saved the dog...
Being a 'pudgy' character, I have to agree with Pudgy... The Ghoul is off and weird and... Well... OFF... Like the Pudg!
i doubt people have a way to brush there teeth and he a ghoul so he only took one tooth cause there was probably only one that was good enough to sell the rest were probably rotten
haha. pudgey @ the finger scene. this show is great.😆
I still don't get why he didn't just take the box.
In the game, radiation heals gouls.
HEY!!!YOU NEED WATCH PSYCHO(1960YEAR) AND MISERY(1990) BEST HORRORS!
i honestly dont think cooper knew what was going on in the mart. it seemed like they never let him in and made him wait outside.
Fantastic job, guys! Loving your reactions to this show!
Copper is one of the more complex character in the Fallout show and is amazingly acted but he is not a good guy he is hands down evil and selfish to contrast against Lucy naivete and good harted nature.
1:10 100% correct
Lucy is no where near as cold hearted as the Ghoul even after killing Martha as that was just self defense & literally her first kill with a firearm.
People just like him so they’re trying to see the good in him but reality is he treated her horribly in this episode

7:05 There is no connection with Moldova as that country in Europe most likely does not exist anymore and is never mentioned in the series or game's
I know she simply mispronounced Moldaver but my first thought was kinda like your comment. Lol 😊
It's not the ghoul teaching Lucy it's the other way around. When Coop killed Roger he was still human when Lucy killed Martha she was not human anymore that's the difference. Lucy suffered a lot but still doesn't let go of her humanity by giving him the drugs when she could have easily gotten revenge for all he did to her whereas the ghoul lost his humanity long ago which is why he's disgusted at the end seeing his old self before he lost himself in the wasteland
What a comment! I totally agree!
6:35 oh cmon, it is Pudgey character right there, what's with the "ews"
he isn't really eating flesh tho, he is cutting most radiated parts, because he needs it to survive, he isn't really a "fiend"
