This is got to stop. We have to save our children. Schools are suppose to be safe. I am from Texas. What happened in Uvalde Tx should never happened. These families are still trying to understand. Never will.

As Canadians can anticipate a Tory majority led by Poilievre’s ipafter the next election, anyone who wants to avoid American carnage in our schools needs to speak to their CPC candidate or sitting MP. This is US school shooting # 971 of 2024, of which 112 resulted in injury or death, 86 of which had fatalities. M. Poilievre will lead a very restive Tory caucus, full of MPs frustrated by 9 years in opposition; most feel they should have won in 2021. They will be trading votes among themselves. The gun lobby, though it is less than 20% of Canadians, will find its influence magnified by those willing to trade votes. Tracey Wilson (CCFR) and Rick Igercich (NFA) lobby the Tory caucus and M. Poilievre’s office regularly.
Both the CCFR and the NFA seek pretty much the same policies as the NRA in the USA. Rather than follow the Americans-whose firearm homicide rate is 8 times ours, we should seek to emulate the UK, AUS, NZ-nations whose firearm and suicide rates are fractions of our own.
Americans can do nothing but offer “thoughts and prayers” to the victims of school shootings, mass shootings. . Canadians can tell their government to stand by our gun laws.

You gotta wear a flak jacket if you want to go to school these days.
