"Once Upon A Time Called Now"- Michela Marino Lerman and Love Movement | Joyce Theater, NYC

Conceived and led by world-renowned tap artist Michela Marino Lerman, Once Upon a Time Called Now fuses iconic tap dance improvography with live jazz and music performance - featuring her unique ensemble of musicians and dancers, Love Movement.
Set largely in the swirling, historic context of Mardi Gras, our story depicts a heroine’s journey back from the afterlife to achieve self-love, acceptance, and ultimately, enlightenment.
Once Upon a Time Called Now melds superlative tap dance with a number of recorded narrations performed by the incomparable Anna Deavere Smith and an all-original score written by Michela and Grammy-nominated bassist, Russell Hall.
