Glenn Healy was a hero to me in my childhood. I was a goalie from a modest income, Cole Harbour family where there was turmoil and no father. I met him when I was twelve years old at a Golf Tourney in Oakfield Nova Scotia, August 1992. We took a picture together and I had the presense of mind to ask him about his blocker hand injury. I saw on Sports Desk that he had actually lost part of a finger from an incident in practice. I was a small kid at twelve. I remember he playfully grabbed the brim of my hat. He left an impression on me. *Fast forward to March 9th 1994 . Rangers/Caps.neutral site game. I had miraculously scored a ticket to sit directly behind the New York Rangers Bench, right next to where they walk out onto the ice. This was the Cup year for that team. I sat and I observed. The men I marveled at in Sports Desk highlight reels and hockey cards were again right up in front of me. Early in the first period Mr Healy came to the bench and was getting his skate worked on by a trainer..... I held up the picture of he and I and ......honest to god he winked at me. That type of acknowledgment from a bonafied and ON the JOB, NHL goaltender in that era was very surreal . Etched permanently in my mind. I remember it to this very day. Thank you Mr Healy if you are reading this.

I remember him lipping Iron Mike in 94 for getting pulled after 1 goal against the Islanders at Nassau, whom Healy played for the previous year, amidst all that 1940 shit and the Rangers not winning there for 5 years. Imagine the trashings between Keenan and Healy lol btw The Rangers did beat the Islanders at Nassau that year and then win the Stanley Cup to boot. Arguably the best playoff series ever played sports wide was that years conference finals between the Rangers/Devils.

Healy is a solid dude. Anyone in the comments here who is genuinely bashing him for being arrogant, too hard on RA, or any other bs...... The following explanations/reasons apply........
    1. They are not a guy
    (*qualifier: A normal/average dude
**Second qualifier with actual friends IRL)
    2. Obviously doesn't play/never played hockey or any real team sport after the age of 12
(*qualifier: and no, battle team/pvp Fortnite with your "crew" doesn't count as a team sport haha.)
    3. Please look up the word: Sarcasm
    in Websters Dictionary
3a. Please look up "to Chirp" in any slang dictionary/translator.
There are many more.... Please feel free to add! Heals deserves it!

Glenn Healy was GREAT on HNIC but straight shooters like him and Don Cherry are not soft and gentle and upset all the PC little non-contact crowd. The league is getting way to soft today, its boring as hell.

Nah, Cherry is just a dinosaur, who is too stubborn to change his views to represent anything even resemblant to modern hockey. That's why he's out of a job, not his "non PC" presentation. Hockey is not PC and hopefully never will be, Cherry is just senile.

@@pedvetrus2711 ....What league are you watching dude? it's totally PC..... no hitting, no fighting, not allowed to get your emotions get the best of you and express your opinion... or you get suspended.... men are not longer allowed to be men
calling Cherry a senile is a total insult and don't worry you'll be senile some day as well and younger people will think the same way about you..... have a nice day

@@memoranda1 Haha, hit a nerve old man? No hitting? Can you even see what you're watching or has the old age hit that hard? Guys going 100mph ramming eachother to the boards, I'd call that hitting. I'll be honest though, I'm anti headshots and it's good they're getting penalized for that. Or would you like to see more of Scott Stevens' of the world ending careers (I like Scott Stevens as much as the next guy, it was legal then, but that shit sure as hell should've never been legal)? Is hockey just a bloodsport for you?
And oh, fuck fighting just for show. I'm all for keeping rats like Marchand accountable for their actions, but if you want to see preorganized fights there's always the UFC. Teams just noticed that actually having four linea of guys that can play is better than having someone out there getting 5min of playtime and still ending up with -20 a season. Fuck them and their PC culture.
And yeah, Cherry is a dinosaur that has no place to provide commentary for modern hockey. It's the same as with Babcock. If you can't adapt, then the world is gonna blow by you. Fast.

@@pedvetrus2711 ....look at the crowds reaction back then compared to now when it came hockey being a passionate sport... all that has been taken out. Sure it is a skilled game...and i certainly like players that can dangle. But there is no spirit in the game... no hate among players.... just hugs and kisses.... everyone is watching what you say and if a player says the wrong thing because his emotions got the best of him..bye bye. Stevens was my favorite player..... 3 cups baby......

@@memoranda1 Crowd's reaction has been taken out? That I actually don't know of, since I live on Finland (right next to my teams stadium might I add, where the house is buzzing every gameday), and have never seen an NHL game live. It's quite hard to catch the armosphere through tv so I might even bow down from this.
I don't blame you for liking Stevens. I'm just questioning what is it you want from hockey. With new discoveries on brain injuries, it'd be absolutely irresponsible if the league didn't do anything to make the game safer for the players. With multiple cases of suicides for ex players who've been concussed countless times, it's only a matter of time until someone with CTE goes all Chris Benoit, and at that point I dont hold the league responsible. I hold people like you responsible for that, with your constant shouting for bigger hits and more fights.
