Omg. Ya had me unsurprised right up until Michael did the...poop push? Yep, THAT interpretation of the beetle initiating the frog to push him out did it. That gives me the chills just remembering it. Thanks for that. I'm grateful that I'm neither the frog nor the beetle in that story.

The wastewater treatment plant for our region is right in my suburb! I love it and visit it every time it opens for visitors to see how it all works!
The produced methane is trapped to generate electricity for the plant and after many, many stages the end runoff gets fed to a wasabi field before being released into the ocean. That shit's so cool! :P

I’m just wondering who the first person was that saw a big steaming pile of camel poop and thought to themselves, “Hey maybe I should eat that and it will cure me of my explosive diarrhea!“ LOL

I wonder, how the first human found out, that eating camel poop - not dry, but fresh and warm - was a life saver. And also: how many times some tried it with dried cold poop and died...

    • @savagepro9060

Successive series of people handled the camel's poop while fertilizing their plants, or doing other tasks, AND forgot to wash or clean their hands. Someone realized that people survived from handling the camel's poop, especially when the poop is fresh! And Voila!

I am actually SUPER passionate about the movement to save the honeybees. Does anyone know the names of the organisations who are behind the research of using the animal dung chemicals to protect hives? I would love to donate to the research!!

I don’t understand what the benefit of tricking yourself into not feeling cold is, like aren’t they still physically affected by the cold, like it could still kill them or hurt them, but now they just dont know about it

It's possible that the trait survived because it wasn't used often enough to kill pandas regularly. Humans are still alive even though some of us intentionally consume harmful substances for pleasure. Many other animals do so as well, such is the case for deer and psychedelic mushrooms. Evolution doesn't result in the perfect way of doing things, so long as it's good enough.

A few years ago a coworker of mine around the age of 50 told us of how the healer of his village in Mexico told him to eat his own poo, to treat a spider bite. It worked so some time later when his horse was bit he used the same method. I thought this was just a tall tale until I told it to my grandma who said that she heard of this cure when she was a little girl living in Guatemala. Has anyone else ever heard a story like this?

Grateful for this video, or compilation, as someone said.
While it's less sexy than the seven ways mentioned, poop saved millions of lives in China - and it was human poop.
By the end of the 14th century, the Chinese were between 160 and 200 million, the largest human population in the world in the same country. Without chemical fertilizers or sufficient animal manure, it would have been impossible to support so many people without the "night soil" being scrupulously dumped in the fields.
The habit of drinking tea may have come from that. In the plains that were cultivated that way, it would only be safe to drink boiled water, which is quite unpleasant. With tea, it gets much better!
Until the next video. It is always a joy to receive this notification.
