      Holy cow thank you! I’m a huge fan of you guys. I’ve only recently gotten into Lorcana with Illumineer’s Quest but your videos have been really insightful and easy for a new player to learn/digest. Love all the work you do for the Lorcana community

      Pull the trigger, Matt! Marvel Champions is an amazing game… but Lorcana has much more relaxed gameplay for me and my wife, cool foil cards, and DISNEY!

      If you didn't already. Gateways is like 20$ now and you get 2 starter decks, a game board, and instructions on how to play. And few other goodies.

    The cards from the Disney Lorcana TCG: Illumineer’s Quest series, specifically those from the “Deep Trouble” set, are not tournament legal. These cards feature a unique gold back, distinguishing them from the standard Lorcana cards used in official tournaments. As such, they are designed primarily for casual and cooperative play, particularly against special scenario opponents like Ursula, rather than competitive play.

    • @webwarriorfanatic
      @webwarriorfanatic  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The scenario deck for Ursula has the gold back, but the 2 player decks have regular and i believe they are legal for tournament play. I should have clarified in the video that i meant the player decks!

    Hi, I saw your video about the starter deck ranking, from that I'm undecided about the tier A decks, for a player who wants to start playing which one would you recommend?

    • @webwarriorfanatic
      @webwarriorfanatic  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I highly recommend the Amethyst/Steel floodborn deck! The bounce package is still on a class of it’s own and that starter deck has the most cards in current meta decks (green/purple, red/purple, yellow/purple, purple/steel)

    So a lot of these decks you buy singles for more copies of certain cards or replace cards to synergize better and most decks are viable? Probably better to buy singles since they are so cheap in price what you think?

    • @webwarriorfanatic
      @webwarriorfanatic  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s tough to say but I’d say you want both. For example in the Merlin/Tiana starter, you’d definitely want to buy singles to get 4x copies of Madam Mim Fox and Snake, Merlin Rabbit and Goat. However id personally replace Tiana because she isn’t the most reliable card and really shines in a deck specifically built around her, so i would take her out of this bounce deck and replace her with cards like Friends on the Other Side or Grab Your Sword, etc. But yes singles are definitely the way to go for cost efficiency!

    How much did you like the solo mode when compared to MC?

    • @webwarriorfanatic
      @webwarriorfanatic  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Marvel Champions is more thematic and immersive, Lorcana is more chill and much shorter!

      My two pence.
      What’s good about Illumineer’s Quest…
      - Quick set up
      - Intuitive AI with a novel resourcing mechanic
      - Can be a fun challenge on “normal” mode, especially in co-op, which can create some cool interactions between teammates
      The not-so-good…
      - the game feels so oppressive on hard and extreme mode that the game feels very un-fun and pretty much unwinnable with the vast majority of decks. With some exceptions…
      - once you figure Ursula out you can play with decks that have that have an almost 100% win rate. It pretty much trivialises the game and feels like there are some huge flaws in the design of Ursula.
      - it’s really poor value for money. There are no modulars that add variety to the game (replay value is limited). The tokens are rubbish. And you can’t really use the box as storage for the game.
      The sweet spot for the game is normal mode, especially as a co-op with self-imposed deck building restrictions so you can’t build a deck that just trivialises the game. In this setting it’s a fun game, especially if you have a decent enough card pool to pull from (although that, in itself requires a significant investment).
      However, as someone who has played a lot of marvel champions and Lorcana, I personally wouldn’t recommend it. I consider marvel champions a far superior game for solo and co-op in terms theming, value of money and, most importantly, fun.

      @@R8C2 Thanks for your input! I mostly agree that Marvel Champions is more fun for solo/coop and am also not a big fan of the tokens/box for Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble. I also agree the replayability for extreme difficulty is repetitive because only specific tech can win. That being said, i love playing easy mode on coop using regular PvP decks. There’s something unique with playing PvP with friends then using the same decks to team up against Ursula, and after losing our first few games, easy mode has always been really close for us (we either barely lose, or we win with Ursula at 35+ lore). I can’t speak for normal mode coop, but easy mode coop has been a fun experience and i really like the 2 decks from Deep Trouble!

    • @R8C2
      @R8C2 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@webwarriorfanatic I like that. I think easy mode is a good challenge when working with a limited card pool while standard is a good challenge when working with a much more extensive card pool (which can be expensive to assemble!). So it gives something for those who want to dip into the solo mode without fully investing into a tcg while also offering more of a challenge for those who have amassed a much bigger collection.

      @@R8C2 I agree! I'm excited what Ravensburger will do for the next coop expansion and how they will make future scenarios feel different from Ursula.
