all my family made fun of me for going for an automotive degree, welding degree, and a culinary degree all from 2015-2021. I have job security and I can go to any state and find a job in any of these three areas that I studied. they never supported me. I lived out of my truck, bathed in the rivers in the Nederland, Co area and Boulder, Co area. Now I have a job offer in San Diego with housing in the contract. and now my family is asking for money from me. HEY FAMILY, GUESS WHAT, IM HAPPY, SECURED AND I LOVE WHAT I AM DOING. PS. My truck is paid off, 2018 Dodge 4x4.

People definitely underestimate blue collar jobs and trade school when it is more valuable than some of these masters and doctorate degrees

Wow... Suze, we were expecting more depth and breadth of analysis from you... What should people do? You're telling them to "stay strong" and to "call their creditors and say 'I can't pay now... Home equity credit... Borrow against your home? Is she insane? The interest on that eclipses a mortgage. You would be even more out of pocket.
It's just a safety net. She is not telling you to use it unless you are in trouble. Which you shouldn't if you followed her advice.

Got a question: In this market, I want to purchase a home and interest rate is great at 2.5%. I have $40k to use, should I put it into the home as a down payment or is it better to invest it somewhere, earning 7-10% interest?

@@stephanied1028 Same here,when I bought my house in 2002 I was watching Suze. I made sure I was on a fixed APR while the lender was pushing me to a variable. It was Wells Fargo! Still living in my house and with my emergency fund!

Tip number one, dont listen to Suze Orman.
Last question answered so wrong. She recommended creating an 8 month emergency fund before paying off credit card debt. You should pay your credit card off first to the point you aren't incurring high interest and only using as if it was a debit card paid off monthly. What's the emergency fund for anyway, to stop getting into bad debt again. Don't recommend but a paid off credit card could be your emergency credit fund if you need it had you paid it off. You be at least better than holding incurring the interest until you had you 8 month emergency fund in the bank!
If your job is not stable you have need to be saving and building the Emergency Fund. Credit card companies have been lowering limits and closing cards. Make minimum payments on debt and hoard cash. In these uncertain times, you cannot depend on credit cards.
What job is permanent.
