Appreciated just the ride along flight along the beautiful coast. Nice tips on leaning.

Excellent video, Jason. Please do more ride along’s. Really enjoyed it. I’m heading to KSPG tomorrow for the Sol relief organization Christmas toy drive and simultaneously we have a young eagles event at the airport. Also one of my favorite airports. #chefforceone

Hello Jason, my middle name is Jason. I enjoy watching your flight videos, as I have learned so much. I am a new pilot out of KSRQ and like you, I don’t like flying over water (especially beyond the gliding distance capability of a Cessna 172. I would enjoy flying to KSPG via KSRQ, but I am still a new VFR pilot, and flying to St Pete over 22 miles of water (Tampa Bay) below the lower shelf of Class-B airspace at only 1,100 feet scares me 😱 In order to enter Class-B you need to be clear of clouds which is another reason why I avoid this route. I am currently working on my Instrument rating, so that one day soon, I can be vectored within Class-B to fly high enough over the 22 mile stretch of Tampa Bay in order to safely glide over land in an emergency. As you mentioned, this trip is a slightly complex with (3) different airspaces: KSRQ = Class-C, KTPA = Class-B, and KSPG = Class-D.
By the way, do you carry floatation devices on board N23MZ, since you would prefer not to perform an emergency landing on a crowded beach? Hopefully you can review that scenario in your next video. Thanks again for your excellent videos and helpful advice. Have fun and fly safe!

    N32693, KSNS based.
Great video and I have asked a CFI to review each topic as we hope ( I hope to fly, 3 days a week this month) to have a nice weather January 2024.
Hopefully I pass my check right this year.

I love that airport. The approach into RWY 7 is so wild.

Flew in and out of APF last week. They were sequencing planes in/out of both 14 and 5. Haven’t seen that there in several years. I hear that they finally have a full compliment of controllers. It will certainly help during season. Great vid. Thanks

Hi Jason! I really enjoyed this video and the commentary, good learning here Holy tamoly that approach onto 7 feels low and distracting with all that around the airport. Victoria

Very nice! Such a fun flight!! I like the notion of leaning more slowly - I’m going to adopt that. When taxiing, I lean my mixture aggressively until the engine almost quits and then just a little back rich. It is quite a bit more than 2 or 3 twists. Probably more like 15 to 18!!

Fantastic video!!! This is the kind content that I look for as it shows the things you deal with through a typical flight! I too would be a little worried about being over the water, regardless of being in glide range of land.

Jason, I'm a wannabe pilot trying to get into the financial position to start lessons. I watch you in an effort to learn as much as I can before then. I also have one of your books - the blue handbook. I did not quite understand what you were saying about leaning on taxi. At first it seemed like you were saying to lean more on taxi to prevent build up on the plugs, but then it seemed like you said that leaning wasn't good. Can you please straighten me out? I also presume you would not have that issue in a plane that uses Jet A.
