2024 SkanFest U: Music & Home | Week 4 (August 20, 2024)

SkanFest U is the Festival’s educational initiative, open to all.
The 2024 topic was Music and Home. It explored how composers express a sense of home in their music; how they bridge the cultural gap between their country of origin and their new homelands; and how music can address themes of dislocation, rupture, and healing. Get to know music by Chopin, Dvořák, Rachmaninoff, Stravinsky, Korngold, and Tania León, and hear music that was performed at the Festival, including Festival commissions by Kinan Azmeh (Syria), and Arson Fahim (Afghanistan). Hear exclusive interviews and live performances by Festival artists.
Four weekly sessions are led by Artistic Director Aaron Wunsch, who teaches at The Juilliard School.
