Hello, new subscriber here, I enjoyed your video, I own 2 of the 2017 SV TW 103 reels. They are identical except 1 is Purple and 1 is Gold. They both have an 8.1:1 gear ratio... I'm not sure what is going on with that. I do like that you have yours paired with St Croix rods. I too am a big fan of those rods. All 11 of my Bass rods are St Croix and all are paired with a different variety of Daiwa Tatula reel. I do have a Shimano TranX 400 on my Musky casting rod along with a Lexa 400HD and Lexa 300HD. The TranX is pretty comparable to the Lexa 400HD in my opinion. Tight lines my friend

Yeah that is weird, cause pretty sure the older ones were color coded based on the gear ratio. Gold for 6.3, red for 7.1 and purple for 8.1. Thank you watching and commenting. I love the feedback

Not a problem, I was under the same impression as well... I don't know...

I just bought the 2020 model. I like it. When you do use braid on your Tatulas what diameter are you using ? And what lbs Fluorocarbon are you using 15 ? 12 ? For casting without heavy cover.

I use 40lb suffix 832 braid and 12lb seagur invisx for light cover

The maintenance port on Lew's is strictly a gimmick. It only exposes the gear, which should never be oiled only greased. I'm a Daiwa fanboy but I don't understand why they are putting smaller, narrower grip paddles on the newer reels. I think the 2017 looks more expensive.
