When people ask why majority of the fans trust James Gunn to make Superman film is exactly because of this. Gunn took a group of obscure Marvel characters whom not many has heard of even in comic fanbase that had a talking Racoon and a tree and made the fans fall in love with characters so much so that I'd argue it's the best trilogy in the MCU after Captain America.

The first appearance of Rocket Racoon was like 5 dollars when Guardians came out. That tells you how little people cared about those characters.

Sean has a good gig overall. Look his brother will keep hiring him (as I would for my family so I throw zero shade at that) and he is famous and probably pretty wealthy, but not super famous. He can walk down the street and probably not be bugged much. Seems like a cool guy.

People forget that Sean was a way bigger name than James for years due to his recurring role as a fan favorite on Gilmore Girls. He's paid his dues for sure.

people were saying guardians was going to be mcu's first bomb. they doubted him then.. and now 3 great mcu films and 1 great dc film later, they're still doubting him with superman. lol...
the guy made a talking tree and a raccoon into household names while the other director was given the biggest A-listers, batman n superman, together in one movie and made one of the worst superhero film ever.

you are absolutely right they still doubt him even after he did the best MCU trilogy I think some fans are just worshiping Zack Snyder they are not a real DC fans they are pure hating on everything James Gunn is doing they make me feel like is DC and people who wrote the comics made it exclusively for Snyder omg Snyder took his chance and did nothing good with DC

I wouldn't say they doubted him. I knew people that liked Gunn but still didn't want to see Guardians. People doubted the characters.
