    So many incompetent drivers with no situational awareness !
    Every driver needs refresher training & made to watch videos like this to highlight how their bad decisions impact an emergency vehicle.

    That mess is why the emergency corridor needs to be the only method expected, and it needs to be publicized across every single type of media so everyone can know, not like they failed with the highway code change recently, and with 'informing' people that when there isn't a hard shoulder that it is the UK's expected method in places like in the video, hence the emergency response driver's position.
    People moving left and right out of the same lane, stopping in the middle lane with the emergency vehicle directly behind because they think they should be going down lane 3, trying to move left with the emergency vehicle already to their left, etc. People not thinking of fixing the situation with the accelerator because everything they have to go off as an average driver says speed is bad and slowing down is always the answer is another fault on show here.
    Germany and autobahns. 2 things that are different to here. The emergency corridor is the only official advise for all applications, so everyone knows exactly where they are supposed to go/are expected to go/be by the emergency vehicle(s), and sections with no speed limits, so fixing things with the accelerator is available when there's the space to do so. Watch an emergency vehicle's pov from there and it's so smooth cutting through traffic, at times as easy to get to the scene as driving down an empty residential road, but on a multi-lane carriageway with walls of stationary traffic either side. Clear education is all that's needed to get there.

    0:49 why slow to a stop and indicate right when you could just move over left to make the path clear?

    • @iTzCorey
      @iTzCorey  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Like i have said to others people panic, splitting traffic is used all over the world successfully but in the UK drivers struggle because there is no blue light aware on the driving test or theory test, people are left to decide for themselves what to do or are expected to watch blue light aware clips on social media, granted sometimes the responder doesn't help the situation and i have found myself panicking too when you've got cop cars blasting bullhorns at you when you can't move anywhere etc.

      Far from everyone. Several were stationary smack bang where the emergency responder (future reference - ER) needed to go with huge gaps to the next vehicle ahead, yet they sat stationary or crawled until the emergency vehicle squeezed past or someone else moved (barely).
      1:01 space quickly appears behind the truck in lane 1 with the ER sticking to official advice of splitting lanes 2 and 3 (rightmost and second rightmost lanes here), and yet the Ford Transit Connect(?) sits in lane 2 then doesn't accelerate into the growing space.
      1:24 the Mokka has a space to its left from that point on, but stays in lane 2 and brakes instead of moving left sooner, the yellow Merc van braking while trying to indicate intentions to drive into the ER opened up a gap before they finally moved left.
      1:37 DPD truck did have a red car to the left of their cab, very risky place but that's what happens with average speed check zones, but they had a large enough space to drop back and move left into much sooner than they did. If they braked slightly they could have been over before the ER reached their rear.
      1:44 Audi A4 decides an emergency stop is the best course of action, possibly triggering a forward collision alarm in the ER's BMW (something faint sounds at the right moment), while the DPD truck is still in lane 2, braking now, but far later than they could have reacted.
      2:11 the Z3's second application of the brakes caused extra delay. The space in front grew significantly to the next vehicle in lane 2, and accelerating away from the Mondeo in lane 3 would have made them both easier passed for the ER.
      2:29 to 2:43 Too many people trying to move left when official guidance is for the rightmost lane to move right, although not shared with anyone very well by authorities so I don't blame the drivers for not knowing.
      3:27 grey Mercedes A Class let a huge gap open up ahead but insisted on stopping instead of accelerating out of the way, mainly away from beside a HGV that can't move out of the way because of the front (white without livery 3:40 (to see the one I mean in isolation)) of the 2 dawdling Mercedes Sprinters in lane 1, another gap that accelerating into would have helped a lot more. So 2 for that one moment making that a significant mess for the ER to get through.
      3:56 The Kia Sportage hesitated beside the Renault Clio that clearly can't go anywhere due to the truck for too long. Again allowing a large gap to open up ahead while holding up the ER, even letting off the brakes, but didn't accelerate out of the way.
      4:13 is a clash of the 2 different bits of advise given in the UK, easily understandable for the transition from slow moving traffic to something more flowing. Corsa stuck to creating the emergency corridor by moving right, as advised for the slow traffic they were just part of, but the Merc moved left to clear lane 3, as is advise for the more flowing traffic they were becoming part of. They met side by side as both tried to slow for the ER, only to block them. The Corsa should probably have been the one that should have accelerated to fix it, biggest gap ahead and being in the overtaking lane, the one that should be the faster moving lane in normal conditions. It's being a bit more picky, but the Merc maybe could have gone further left in lane 2, they could have not been following the Corsa so close to end up beside it even with heavy braking, but they did at least accelerate when it was obvious the Corsa wasn't going to move, so that was good, and an example of what several others mentioned above should have done.
      On the one hand, that being all the bad drivers in this dense traffic isn't too bad, but it is also only 4 minutes 30 seconds of footage, so it's still far too many. If you compare this to some footage from Germany, it will dramatically reduce your opinion of this, and as mentioned above, for the slower moving stuff we actually have the same emergency corridor guidance as them, so that's how it should play out here too. This is a narrower section through roadworks, but still, I'm pretty sure I've seen better, at least on par, ER progress through traffic at a complete standstill in Germany in a narrower road works section in that footage, compared to here where the traffic was still moving or had more space to move.

    I couldn't see any sign of actual road "works"; just some transport parked outside cabins at one point?
    Ok, there were a few blockers, but mostly respectable deviations considering the traffic density.

      Probably clipped out as this run is only 4 minutes long but you can see the reduced speed signs and workmen working which caused a build up of traffic.

      @@MotherGoose I meant to say Whelen lol now i feel stupid, normally only used on fire trucks but with it being a private ambulance with quite dated lighting etc i suppose it makes sense but now they've got rid of it for something much newer.

    • @iTzCorey
      @iTzCorey  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, people either come to a complete stop or just indicate and stay in the same lane forcing the responder to go around them, if they all indicated and safely moved over the responders lane would be clear, not enough #bluelightaware is taught like even on driving tests i was never told what to do with blue lights behind me etc its just left for you to decide, i believe on driving tests or theory there should be a section for blue light aware, instead we just get videos posted now and again on social media....that 90% of drivers wont even see or watch.
