- Since many of people have asked what the numbers on the v10 400s, I decided to do a video on them! I started at 3000 rpm up to WOT! The mercuries are very fuel efficient on the freeman and I'm more than happy I went with them!
3000rpm - 21mph 1.3mpg
3500rpm - 29mph 1.48mpg
4000rpm - 38mph 1.46mpg
4500rpm - 48mph 1.35mpg
5000rpm - 51mph 1.10mpg-against tide/wind
5500rpm - 57mph 1.04mpg-against tide/wind
6000rpm - 67mph 1.04mpg
RPM Limiter (WOT) - 69mph 0.96mpg

Those numbers are insane, I love Yammy but went with the 300 mercs on my new boat. Pushing 300 hours and they haven’t missed a beat. Mercury is about 10 years ahead of the competition
good to hear!
I’ve got merc 300 v8’s with 1,400 hours, still running strong with 100 hour services!
@@freightshakernation9429sorry does that mean you unmounted and serviced them every hundred hours?
Enjoy that life. GOOD LUCK ,BE THANKFUL.TAKE CARE.
Good luck with the new motors!
Excellent, thank you for sharing! I’m having a new SeaHunter Built with 400 v10’s white like yours based out of Naples. I don’t going into the mold till this fall. I pan to book an outing with you this summer with my brother in law and my nephew !
Sweet hopefully we can make it happen
Appreciate the video. V10 400s on jackplates are my top choice for my next 30’ Wildcat. Even though we’re smaller our dry weight is about 1,000# lighter. I’m interested in what your real world economy is. I’ve had Zuke 300s and now Zuke 350s (both are very close in efficiency) and need to figure out how long it’ll take to break even on the V10$ versus trying their V8 300s.
Wow that was amazing and if you had a pair of 400R would be even crazier
That wildly outperforms what I was expecting to see for speed!
i believe she has 70mph in her with the right conditions
I have Yami’s and when it comes to sound, Merc’s blow them away. That’s literally my biggest complaint as well with Yami’s. I do the the autotrim that comes with Merc’s tho, that’s an awesome feature!
Awesome video man! What length engines do you have 25" or 30", also what props are you running? Can you run on 1 engine pretty well? Reason I ask, I'm building a 31 ameracat and I've got to pick motors fast so I have them in time. Thanks in advance, and congratulations on a perfect boat brother!
The 400s only have 1 prop option. Just pick a pitch
@Reese_Asher what pitch props do you have?
Not in the same league at all but my 2012 Mercury 60HP has never had a single problem. And now the stories of the Rich and Famous. lol
What pitch and props are you running ?
Incredible performance but I'd be worried about how fast you gotta go to plane that hull if shit really ever hit the fan.
Thanks for the video and numbers. What does that boat weigh? I’m running quad 300 Suzuki’s currently - last forever at the rate I’m going… who do you use for insurance? 42 Prowler here….
9000 dry
Charterlakes insurance
Cool thanks
What pitch props are you running?
25s
WOT On that motor should be 6350. Prop accordingly
Those props don’t like low RPMs. Might look at backing the pitch off 2” and putting some cup in it to get your mpg up at 3500rpm cruise.
Will she plane off on one motor?
i dont think so, but i have never tried
I think these engines are around $70k each to replace when they are shot.
42k msrp most dealers sell them for ~$39.5k
@@theonlybug393 Oh I thought they were the V12's for some reason. What does a dealer charge for labor to install a new outboard?
Nice, but you were going out with the tide that changes things.
You’re saying 1.5 but gauge shows much better.
2 engines. Might have to divide those numbers by 2.
That is what I was going to ask. The gauge is showing double the number he is saying. I can only guess that gauge is for one engine so both engines would be half? Still doesn't make sense though because the gauge should be for both engines.
@@leftycosta1899look at the number in the lower right that is the combined fuel flow the mpg on the display is wrong (only using single outboard fuel flow)
Less fuel you will do 70...
Say um a whole bunch more...
