      Love seeing mid-week videos, and love seeing them slowly creeping up in length. Soon we'll have a couple hours of CWM every week :) Seriously, I know it's a huge amount of work to shoot and edit content and I really appreciate the effort you make to get this out there. Best channel on youtube by any measure. Cheers.

      What were they looking to get for that cockshutt?
      Great shape....looks like it needs a good winter to bring back to par.

    Now your getting into my love of early tractors! What you have is a Super W-6 Mc Cormick. built in 53 and 54. Same motor and trans as a Super M Farmall. The Cockshutt is the same tractor as the Oliver 28-44 (90). Big time power in their day. That one has about $2000. dollars worth of rubber on it. The Deere D, is a later version. That motor is 501 CID, at the time, the largest tractor in the Deere line. Electric start is an unusual accessory. most are hand start, turn the flywheel by hand. They could also have hydraulics if so ordered, the pump would be mounted between the magneto and the block.

  • @KiwiStag74
    @KiwiStag74 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What a great old beast, eh? I'll look forward to the "Will it run" on this ol' girl. Like you, Scott, I love how tractors can sit there idling at about 100 rpm going 'doof....doof....doof' - there's something magical in that sound. A flathead 6 or 8 comes close, but you can't beat a tractor for the 'doof doof' factor! You might also have to do a couple of episodes of My Classic Tyre - not only with the one you want to put on, but also the tired one you are taking off!

    • @coldwarmotors
      @coldwarmotors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey boss! Thanks for the note. A treat to hear from you! It is a McCormick, for sure. Serial # says S W 6? You can see it at 7:07 or so. I don't know anything about them, so that is all I was going by. I just really liked how untouched and straight it was! All the best as always from everyone here.

    The McCormick wheelbase is the perfect size for your yard. I wouldn't think you'd want something as long as a Farmall "M" or "A" maneuvering around your collection.

    Another splendid CWM educational interlude. I know nothing about these machines and have only seen them at a distance, They're amazing in their functionality; built not for show or certainly, any comfort but simply to get the job done. I'm glad Tom granted his approval of a non-Deere acquisition.

    Just when you don't think the CWM content can get any cooler you up and buy a Farmall,IH products were a big part of my growing up years, starting with my uncle who owned a combination repair garage/IH dealership,my dad's '68 1100 pickup that he ordered new, the basket case Farmall Cub tractor that Dad bought from a friend for $170 in '68 and rebuilt/updated (which I teased him about as kids will do) then a Cadet 60 riding mower that I rode to death as a teenager, even a International deep freezer and my later years with a pair of International pickups so yes I love your latest acquisition 😎

  • @tjohnson9051
    @tjohnson9051 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If I had the money I would have bought all 3 but if I could only buy 1 it would be the JD. It is the easiest for me to get on and it is the most valuable one. We have some in the tractor club and they have lots of torque down low plus the guys step off while it's plowing to adjust the plow then hop back on. You bought the best tractor for what you want to do but it is harder to get on and the steering wheel is too close to the seat and there isn't enough adjustment to accommodate my large size. That tractor will be a great running tractor and there are plenty of parts for it. Once sorted out I think you'll love it!

    That welded steering rod might have been a farmer modification too to make it easier steering. I've heard they were quite heavy steering and by lengthening that steering arm it gave a little more leverage.

    I love the McCormick. My Grandpa had one on the farm. It was named "Corky". It was used for many years. The steering was so worn that it was almost dangerous to drive in high gear. I have video from the 2000's of it being used to pull down my Grandpa's barn he built in the early 40's.

  • @djrand62
    @djrand62 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Cockshutt is a nice piece of Canadiana, manufactured in Brantford, ON. The JD is a little rough, but I own two and you can't help but love the putt putt sound. I think you made the right choice with the McCormick. And, it was already on the trailer! Bonus! You will need to make up what Grandpa called a push-pull. It's a solid tongue that hooks to the draw bar of your tractor and to the vehicle you are trying to move. It being solid allows you to push or pull the vehicle. And when you stop, the vehicle you are towing has to stop as well. Huge advantage with moving around old relics that have no brakes. Grandpa even welded up a short draw bar on the front of his "yard tractor" so he could hook the push-pull up in front.

    Nice old McCormick W6! I've got a W9, a WD9 (diesel), and a Super WDR9 (diesel rice field special). Also have the Farmall A, Super M, and Super H. So, be careful, these things seem to breed overnight...

    The Yamaha model in the UK would be a DT80. There was a series with different capacities up to 350cc or 400cc.
    Loved the tractors.

    Cockshutt I think are also Oliver tractors . We had one on the farm , I have tried to buy a Cockshutt 4 wd with a Waukashaw diesel , a farmer I know has one parked for years. He always says not yet , I keep after him

    This is a nice video and thank you for making it. The end had me on the edge of my chair, watching you unload the IH from a dump trailer with ramps! I was afraid we were going to see Scott with his head in the mud, looking at the tractor pointing skyward. (I work in the equipment rental field and have seen a couple of mishaps ramp-unloading skid steers from dump trailers…) Good for you on the nice find and thank you again.

    Super W6 with non cast fwd frame. In 1954 they introduced the torque amplifier. Sweet tractor. Enjoy!

    Deffo the most stylish choice. A Raymond Loewy design classic!
    I reckon the next logical step is a streamliner steam loco...
